Well, Skreemer, I hope the bike's ok, and glad you're alright. Safety Dance, same goes for you...this is why I have always avoided riding on my own, despite the fact that there is some really great riding nearby.

Who want's some bike carnage... you know you do... The bike is/was a Suzuki Bandit 1250... Left over '08 model I bought in May of '09, had 15500 miles on it and all of the miles but 2 were put on it by me... I don't know you guys. I feel like that damage is terrifying and has an emotional and psychological toll that can barely be measured. I think Skreemer may need to get two Bandit GTs and wear them like roller skates just to recover the peace of mind brutally taken from him.

Add me to the idiot noob pile.. Had my first real crash on my bike yesterday.. Was taking a corner and just as I started to exit the loose gravel caused my front tire to slip under me. Next thing I know I highside it and thrown off and rolling on othe ground. My left shoe came off during the roll. I sit up and assess myself, verrrry sore foot and wrist. A minute rolls by and a person stops to help and make sure I'm ok. EMT arrives and checks me out, have a huge bump on my wrist so I am taken to the ER by my parents. X-Ray shows I broke a bone in my foot and wrist. They cast me up and gotta see a specialist on Monday and to get a full cast instead of the temporary ones . What really sucks was my Alpinestars Tech8 riding boots arrived while I was out on the ride.. shoulda just waited a couple more hours before going out. Had all other gear on. No walking for a while but soon as I heal I'll be right back in the saddle. Got a decent size cut on my right arm, but girls dig scars right? :rofl: Was wearing; fullface helmet, gloves, jacket, tshirt, jeans, and the shoes. I'll be investing in some riding pants before the next ride. Bike is ok, broke the mirror and the left rear turn signal, headlight plastic was scuffed up. Pic I took while on ground waiting for help. I rolled a good 3 or 4 times after flying off and bike skid a bit before rotating 180* on the peg so that's why it was facing opposite direction of travel.   temp cast til monday

In my only bad accident on a bike, I got trapped under the bike on it's side. My left leg got twisted and my left foot got wedged between the rear tire and the undertail. Since the motor was still running, the tire was still spinning and grinding and jamming my foot further into the bike. If I hadn't been wearing my SMX4 boots I'm sure my leg and foot would've beet severely messed up. As it was I was able to walk fine after getting out from the bike. Boots are nearly as important as a helmet in my world. Cute kitty

Tipped my bike stupidly today. I was just doing a U-turn on a 1.5 lane backroad and ran out of road. Instead of stopping and duck walking it I thought I could make it on the little bit of grass on the side. I didn't. Front tire went over the slight drop in the road into the grass, I might have been fine but underneath the grass it was just muck. Even with the bars turned, the tire just slipped and momentum kept me moving the same angle I left the road at, and right for drainage run off that was a 6 inches deep with water. Grabbed the front brake at that point and tipped the bike in the mud. Only damage was a turn signal popping out of it's mount and my pride, along with a slightly tweaked back from picking it up myself in the mud (thanks, MSF, for teaching me how to pick it up by facing away from it, probably would have struggled without that). I shut it off immediately and after picking it up and turning the key off and back on, it started right up. I took a few advil and cleaned it up. I don't think you could tell which side it went down on, so I lucked out really. Only damage as far as I can tell is from my formative years on it, and pictures I was taking to trade it potentially back that up, so I don't feel too bad. A noob mistake on my part compounded with shittier-than-I-thought conditions on the side of the road. More parking lot drills are in my future.  Whoops, almost can't tell.

just got bumped off the road by a car on my way home from work. I am mostly alright, though. The car didn't stop afterward. And there was no one aroundfor a minute or two after that. I don't have any pictures because my phone looks like it was crushed when my bike landed on me. The freeway turns into a uni-directional three lane road before becoming a city street at a light. The right-most lane forces you to turn right, center lane takes you straight and the left lane turns you left. three or four seconds before I turned left there the light turned from a red to a green, I was downshifting to turn and there were no other cars around except a car in the center lane that had been stopped at the earlier red. It was a total perfect storm of what-the-gently caress-edness. The car started to go straight just before I started to turn and, I guess I was in a blind spot or something but it swerved hard to the left into my lane as I was in my lean angle. I saw it happening and tried to throttle on in a tighter arc but I felt/heard it PUSH me down into the road. All I really remember about the car is that it drove away as I was sliding into the curb. My bike popped up a little and I slid under it. It wouldn't start after anything so once I got fromunderneath I walked it home. I was only about a mile and a hlaf away. Damagew-ise My helmet is probably done, there are a couple nicks and long scratches along the back of it. My Overpants (left leg) is completely shredded at the knee, but the knee guards kept my leg from getting hurt at all (I wear HT Air 2.0 overpants - I'll be buying another pair). My right leg has a puncture near my knee on it from when my bike fell on me again while I was walking it home. gently caress that poo poo. My left glove is shredded along the palm area, but my hand is fine. My Bike's seat broke off for some reason, and the right side (inner fairing??) popped off I don't know why. Left blinker broke off and I didn't think to look for it. The Front brake works barely at all right now (I had to use the clutch to stop my bike on the walk home). My foot shifter is rotated 180 and won't shift any more because my foot peg is blocking it and I don't know how to move my shifter back again - it feels stuck. All in all, my right leg is really sore (I don't know if I got hit by the car there or not but there is complete freedom of movement. All of the parts that I slid on were totally protected by the gear - even if the gear itself is kinda ganked. About my bike, I don't really have an idea about what to do next. Any Near Los Angeles Goon want to try and amateur repair this baby before I tow it to my mechanic? I'll buy you dinner if you come out.

Drifter! It's good to see you all right and the gear did its job man. I was actually planning on calling you to set up another ride today. Funny we were both fated for serious accidents on the same day. Did you have insurance for it? By the sound of things you might be pushing totaled zone. Were you able to file a police report? Went out for some canyon riding today and got hit by a truck running a stop sign on my way back. The intersection I was coming up on was a two way stop. I had slowed down and it looked like the truck was preparing to stop as well when it went through the intersection at the same time I was. I saw him coming at me so I tried to emergency stop. I locked the rear but was still able to keep the bike up when I hit the front left side of him. I connected going maybe 15-20, who knows how fast he was going, probably in the same area. I ended up flying over the front and landing on the side of my face and left shoulder. My helmet has some deep scratches where I hit but it did its job. I heard ringing while I was sliding but managed to get away without a concussion. If only my shoulder was as lucky as that's where most of the force was. My A* Jerez jacket took some deep scuffs and I ended up with a broken clavicle(collar bone) but I didn't get a scratch on me. My A* gloves are fine and my Sidi boots have some light scratches but both did their jobs wonderfully. I have a meeting with a orthopedic surgeon tomorrow to see if I need to have an operation to get my collar bone realigned as the 2 pieces while being a near perfect break are about 2cm apart. My left hip is sore as well as my elbow but those are nothing to compare to the horrible pain in my shoulder. The bike is definitely totaled. I couldn't walk over to inspect it but the front end is gone for sure. The guy who ran the stop sign stopped and was still being talked to by the sheriff when I was taken away but this is definitely his fault. Wear your gear folks. There isn't a doubt in my mind it saved my life today.

Wow, you got lucky, fortunately you're relatively ok. Pickup trucks have a specific impact-zone range of physical salvation, which I derived from how I flipped into the bed of one from a 30ish-mph impact, just after furious braking action from 45-50mph. If you're barreling toward a pickup truck then try to aim for its bed. Which is yet another reason why SUVs should be regulated heavily. Long, solid walls floating everywhere.

Nope, I had to arrange the towing myself, a hour before a flight out of town to my grandma's funeral. The driver's insurance declared me as being 20% at fault, so I got just 80% of the towing fee reimbursed.

My insurance agent's calling me Monday to figure out what to do with my bike. Maybe I'll get a new one (I loved my 250, what should I get?)!!! Three months from now Let's do it up. Thanks for the concern, guys. Let's all be safe out there. Adrenaline is a very nice thing. Today I can barely make it up my stairs, whereas yesterday I walked 2.5 miles home with a ~350lb motorcycle. I haven't driven my car for four months, and it feels really strange being in there again.

Yeah me too, I'm aware how bad it could have been so I'm just counting my blessings. That's good to hear about your agent. I'm still waiting to hear back from my insurance(never get mcgraw) but I'm excited to get a new bike out of this. I'm glad you're alright too, I was wondering how you'd feel the following day, looks like we both got VERY lucky. Are you still looking at sport bikes or something different? If you can, shoot me a PM with your number in it. I lost all the numbers in my phone a couple weeks ago and it looks like you were a casualty

The only lasting damage is that my shoulder was dislocated at the same time, and that hasn't healed terribly well. I have a nice new lump on my collarbone where the break was, but other than that, I'm back to normal, 10 months out. Good luck!

Thank you very much, luckily there was no shoulder damage and they're putting plates in to reinforce it so it's good to know I'll probably have full range of motion. Glad you were ok! Drifter, if you haven't already take a look at your policy and see if your gear is covered, it should be but insurance companies never ask about it when you file for obvious reasons.
