from comex: Just read the latest Dev Team blog post... if you have an iPad 2, it would be a very good idea to save your 4.3.x SHSH blobs.

Is it still possible to unlock an iPhone 2G? I have been following the instructions and using the programs from various sites mentioned in the OP (redsn0w and sn0wbreeze), but, as best as I can tell, I am not getting anywhere. The phone currently has 3.1.3 firmware, and an inactive SIM card (I do not have an active SIM card to test in the phone). My computer is running Vista 64. It seems I might need ultrasn0w, but I'll be damned if I can find where to download it. I'm completely befuddled at this point, and any help will be appreciated.

I've tried using redsn0w, but it won't recognize the 3.1.3 firmware that I downloaded from felixbruns.de. I got it to recognize the 3.0.1 firmware (downloaded from the same site), but I couldn't tell if it actually worked to unlock the phone. Also, I was trying sn0wbreeze, and my AV program (BitDefender) caught it trying to install a trojan. Anyone know if this was an actual trojan, or just the program trying to do its job and setting off a false positive?

iPhone 2gs will forever be unlockable since they're not getting updates anymore and the last one they did get had an exploitable baseband Probably true of iPhone 3G as well

So RedmondPie is reporting that the iPad2 Jailbreak "leaked" http://www.redmondpie.com/ipad-2-jailbreak-for-ios-4.3.3-jailbreakme-3.0-leaked-in-the-wild-video/ But it's not Comex's and it's not working except for 4.3. Comex's apparently works for 4.3.3

suddenlyissoon posted:So RedmondPie is reporting that the iPad2 Jailbreak "leaked" It is Comex's. It's the beta that has been available to testers for a week. It is only working for 4.3.0 for now. The full release will work upto 4.3.3. It's available from http://ryanlobbins.com/Saiz/saffron/iPad_4.3_8F191.pdf if that goes down, then ipad2jailbreakpdf.weebly.com also has a copy of the pdf file you cna use. Jailbreak is working fine for me. Be sure after installing the JB to restart your ipad. I don't know why, but my Cydia icon was not visible until I restarted. The restart took longer than normal, I am figuring that this is part of the whole beta-ness. EDIT:apparently the beta is for non-3g models. My Wifi ipad2 is working, but over on macrumors they're reporting problems on 3G. EDIT2:Cydia is no longer the slowest peice of crap in existence. Apparently Comex an Saurik have fiddled with unionfs, and you can really see the difference in Cydia's performance. Funso Banjo fucked around with this message at 16:34 on Jul 2, 2011 |

iPad 2 wifi : jailbreak worked a charm. Easiest one yet! Question for anyone who has attempted to install SBSettings, mine hangs Infinitely at 'preparing Activator'. Does yours?

Now I need to know what kind of cool jailbreak apps / functionalities I should be looking for for my iPad. (I know about RetinaPad.)

I guess it's broken now? Definitely on 4.3 (8F191) but as soon as I click the pdf, it says "there was a problem downloading the jailbreak files" and error 403.

I ran tinyumbrella 5.0.00 and it has a bunch of old saved shsh for my 4 differnt idevices that I saved from running it periodically in the past, but now it won't save any new ones for 4.3.x for some reason. I disabled "request SHSH from Cydia" and "Set hosts to Cydia on exit" and made sure to remove the gs.apple.com line from my host file. The log shows a bunch of "name iphone4 [version] is already in progress!" and "Skipping name iPhone4" ... Does that mean the apple servers aren't replying to the shsh request or something?

If it's anything like the last jailbreakme site, it takes over as root and then downloads the payload from a remote site for whatever device you're on. This is why the jailbreak wouldn't work if the site was getting hammered. I'm guessing comex just disabled the payload URL. Also, this is why it only works for the Wifi iPad 2 on 4.3. The payload is firmware specific (at least all the open source ones I've see ) as each kernel is different and the injection vectors are different offsets for each one.

Does anyone else sometimes have the SMS tone repeatedly go off and the BiteSMS badge stuck on 1 new message, even when there is none? Every few minutes I'll "receive" a message that was already sent to me and there's no way to clear the badge, even after reboot or respring.

Earlier I was able to hit the pdf from the ryanlobbins.com site, but after Safari would close, nothing would happen, even after restarting. Wifi iPad2, running 4.3.3. Same deal from the (working) links at http://www.iphonehowtojailbreak.com/jailbreakme Ah well, guess I gotta wait for the real release.

I assume it is a bitesms issue.

Whoever leaked it (comex thinks someone found it via a "dictionary attack," i.e., someone just brute forced his website with randomworld.pdf until one came up) could very well have hosed everyone over now. This is a pdf exploit with the implication that anyone in theory could use the same exploit to inject malicious code into your iPads just by tricking people to visit a website and you bet Apple is going to patch that right up really fast. From the sounds of his Twitter feed, comex really doesn't think this jailbreak was ready and he wasn't going to release it yet.

What are you guys using the jailbroken iPad for? I love 3G Unrestrictor, MyWi, SBSettings, biteSMS, and LockInfo, but other than SBSettings, those all seem pretty iPhone centric. Are there apps that really demand a jailbroken iPad?

I had a notification icon in the status bar though that I double tapped and it just brought up some random message that I closed, and the badge was cleared. So if you have the notification in your status bar too try that.

Jailbreaking your iPad lets you run the super nintendo emulator that lets your iPhone connect via bluetooth as a controller or a wiimote. That's pretty good as far as I'm concerned. edit: I can't update any apps through the App Store on my AT&T iPhone 4. iOS 4.3.1 jailbroken. Anybody else?

It's gotten to the point where you're likely just trolling. There are some jailbreak apps I use that have become indispensable to me, so even just something like SBSettings is a good reason to anticipate a jailbreak.
