Yeah. I've seen video of the guy, so I know he's not a kid. Honestly though, if you were just some random dude from Ohio, got paid for essentially doing a super EASY job, hanging with comedians, loving porn stars, being high constantly, and had no other responsibilities besides just loving around in L.A., it might stunt your maturity a bit. I don't know how Rogan puts up with him half the time. He can be pretty annoying. 14 year old kid is just about the perfect description. He basically fell rear end-backwards into a million-to-one job opportunity.

Oh wait, am I talking about Redban or Jah? ;)

And yes, I am jealous.

How does any of that describe Jonathan's current life? Also stop calling him Jah since like, no one calls him that and I'm pretty sure he hates it.

I was listening to the shroom dude Rogan podcast and like the first 30 minutes was Redban in complete manchild mode. It's unbearable at times.

I just put another old GarageBand era episode of Lou Reads up on YouTube. In the early days I actually made a handful or enhanced podcast style episodes with images that went along with parts of the story. I decided to export them as Quicktimes and upload them.

I should have some other ones up in the near future.

That's probably the funniest in-studio episode DLM has ever done. I love how pleased Lennon and Ben Garant are about their catalog of terrible films.

I actually would like to have heard more stories from them about their experiences writing studio movies...It seems really interesting....I....I guess that's what the book is for...

Grab the WTF episode with Lennon, he tells a lot of stories from the writing business and it's hilarious, along with his dreams of moving to Ireland. Pretty sure it was WTF.

Patton Oswalt is in today's 5SecondFilm. It's podcast related because he is and would be a good guest on anything, and he's one guy who should actually have a podcast.

And that's why I was forced to surgically attach your hands to your face.
I agree! Although I kind of worry about Patton Oswalt in podcasting. His whole thing is that he's going to work really hard and occasionally deliver a really funny, thoughtful, interesting hour of standup.

Podcasting seems to reward something different than standup. It's more intimate. It's about who you want to hear a conversation with several times a month. A lot of my favorite podcasters are good because they seem to be podcasters first, other things second.

Dude, I'm talking poo poo about Redban and joking about Johnathan. It's too bad that he doesn't like being called "Jah" because he essentially invented it. Chill.

If you've listened to the entire UYD oeuvre then you can't deny that Johnathan can act like a spoiled brat sometimes (which sometimes flies directly in the face of Seth's life that seems to be far more earnest).

Yeah, Maron isn't my favorite stand-up, and Benson and Hardwick aren't anything super special, but I love WTF, Nerdist and DLM, because they're really good podcasters. Granted, all of them have their problems (Hardwick is a bit too much of a fan/Jonah and Matt don't contribute to interviews all that much, Maron's solo segments are not for most people, and Doug is way too stoned way too much), but they're all better podcasters than stand-ups. I get the feeling Patton wouldn't be as good a podcaster as stand-up, because I don't know how well he would do leading a podcast. Likewise, I loving love Daniel Tosh, but I don't think he'd lend himself too well to podcasting either.

I want to dig him because he's just so drat likable. And his voice is dreamy. And I think he's a pretty funny comedian. And his Drunk History episode was the greatest. But I just can't stand his tangents, no matter how well informed they are. I just don't care. Give me Joey Diaz any day.

Yes yes.

http://smodcast.com/mohrstories/

Jay Mohr has teamed up with Kevin Smith's Smodcast empire to create Mohr Stories, his own personal podcast where Jay runs wild in his ADD radio style that you may be familiar with as a fan of Opie & Anthony, Ron & Fez, or Jim Rome. Jay is an unbelievable talent behind the mic, combining his skills as a mimic and his uncanny ability to tell a story. In the first episode, he and his longtime friend (and legendary manager) Barry Katz discuss Tracy Morgan, making it in showbiz, Buddy Hackett, Jay getting on SNL, backlash against Jay by other comedians and specifically why and plenty more. Even though it was just the first episode, it was one of the most interesting, honest, funny, and compelling podcasts I've heard recently. He also crushed it on Plus One per Diem as well.

SlaveToTheGrinds

Mohr's podcast actually isn't too bad. He has one annoying tic which I would guess comes from being in radio which is "You're listening to Mohr stories". I think that will go away over time or when someone tells him that yeah the listener picked his podcast out of a list they know what they're listening to. It definitely has potential though.

That said, Mike Schmidt (The 40 Year-Old Boy) is playing downtown Seattle TONIGHT at the Rendezvous! I'm psyched!

Jah's been around a long time before Johnathan started talking about it? Like...since the bible. It would be like calling your Christian friend God. I don't get why people call him Jah, it's weird.

The only thing that ever annoyed me about J was his tendency to go on long rambling speeches about nothing at all, and throw in lots of stupid big words. By now I am used to them though, and have kinda grown to like his overuse of fancy words in an effort to make a point.

I love the mounting tension between Samm Levine and Doug on the taped DLM episodes. Samm is quickly becoming one of my favorite guests on it, just because he seems to take everything more seriously than Doug, but Doug is still kind of dumb and protective of his own show. It is very entertaining.

I think you're going to enjoy this week's DLM then. At one point Doug points out Samm's "strategic" seating for the Len Maltin game, then later decides to reverse the direction of the game.

which makes Samm winning the game oh so much sweeter

Edit: listening to the episode before this one, I guess reversing the order started sooner. Still there's definitely some tension that makes the new podcast great and the ending better :)
