Changed plugs on the SV. Was pretty easy, I thought I'd have less room to work behind the radiator but there was plenty. On my girlfriends bike ( 2001 ls650 .. suzuki 'savage') I took off the head cover to fix an oil leak. bikebandit shipped my gaskets and other stuff last week so should have them in a day or two and bike is now ready to install them. Also looking for a cheap harley shorty muffler for the LS650.

Replaced the cam chain tensioner again.  Think I'm going to order one of the Dirt Tricks ones and re-engineer it to work in the 690.

The internal ratcheting is erratic at best and outright non-functioning at worst. When the ratchet jams or fails the CCT just collapses so now the spring/hydraulic tensioner becomes just a very poo poo hydraulic tensioner and you have awesome fun riding to the dealer/workshop to get another one while keeping the bike above 4krpm at all times.

Put a shiny new golden DID chain on the Bandit, the old chain was so stretched that it was only barely tight enough with the chain adjustment all the way out. Because I ordered a closed chain, I had to completely drop the swingarm and suspension to fit it, but luckily BoJ is such a nice guy that he offered to help me. We were finished about 15 minutes before they were due at a local restaurant, so his wife was less than pleased with the fact that he was basically covered in copper paste, chain wax and other assorted grease and dirt. Then he insisted that we gave The Internet something to talk about, so he hammered the rear axle bolt tight with an axe. But ooh, the bike just feels better in a subtle way with a brand-new chain on it. I gave the old chain to a local biker club chapter, apparently they use a lot of them.

I spent the early morning hours washing my bike. Cheap automobile shampoo worked a treat and some equally cheap NANO POWER wax+polish really helped with the scratches and matte bits of the paint. Of course, I forgot to take a picture

I went from a pile of loving pieces, to a running bike, to a bigger pile of loving pieces in 48 hours. Tonight, I clean 3 sets of carbs for other bikes then remove the airbox + carbs from this beast (again.)

I finally fit my Chinese Pazzo knockoff clutch lever. The pivot hole was too big so I used part of a pen cap to fill the space. Also the pivot area wasn't wide enough so I used a bunch of washers to make it fit tighter. The brake lever fit just fine. At least I got a 75% refund on these so I'm not too upset. Not like I could've returned them after the brake lever got scraped up after my friend clipped me anyway. NGK Iridium spark plugs should come in today so I'll remove the fairings, clean the oil out of the air box from down and probably swap my other fairings back on so I can attempt to do some repairs to this set. My mom should be picking up a set of free race fairings for me today

Changed out the glovebox lock on the ol'P200E, now I can lock stuff! And discovered the helmet hooks on that old bike too. Too bad my intercom set up would get crushed if I use it with my fullface. I guess it'll do with my halfhelm.

Washed my helmet liners.  I would have felt pretty good about the whole thing too if I didn't find out that the closet where I keep my helmets and jackets is infested with ants. After I pulled the liners out, banging my icon on the table had them falling out from the holes in the styrofoam.

Cleaned the air filter. Chain came in today too hooray. First time I've had a gold chain. Feels fancy. Fancy sprockets too. I have no affiliation with them, but I'd like to give sprocketcenter.com a plug. I ordered the chain and sprockets on Wednesday, and I received it today cross-country from California to NH. Very impressed.

Rode it to my parents' place via some nice local twisties (first decent ride in at least three months and first twisties in a while longer I think ), which was good for a bit of confidence boosting and to blow the cobwebs out. Then I gave the chain a bit of a half-arsed lube job (no access to jack today so I just got Dad to roll the bike forward as I lubed the centre of the chain, then we rolled it back again and repeated, this time I lubed the o-rings as best I could without spraying a bunch of excess chain lube all over the place. Then I used some prepsol to clean chain gunge off the rear wheel and swingarm, then I gave it a wash as it was dusty as poo poo! Tomorrow I'm going to ride it again, an even better ride than today's.
