i was picking my girlfriend up from work at 2 a.m. On my local public station (89.9 WORT Madison), a really cool punky song was on, with pretty minimal backing band. The guy singing had a weird tone, like he was trying to be operatic or something. His lyrics were about "getting rid of the ______" and the word that goes in that blank was a really cool word that I know, has sort of a dark sound to it. gently caress. Need to know. Thanks.

A few days ago I heard a track with sparse lyrics. If I had to guess it was from the mid70s. The lyrics that I heard were just a kind of chanted "ho_____oh oh_____ho_____oh oh" Not like Santa Claus but more of an understated slower tempo tribal bass line/vibe. reminiscent of: Paul Revere and the Raiders - Indian Reservation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVwEwdIIZD0 Cher - Halfbreed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6E98ZRaU1s

I heard a techno song in a party, I don't remember much but the beat was like an old school rap. I know this way too broad but it probably is a popular track.

Ok this is one that has had me stumped and going nuts for 6 or more years. Back before school in high school, mid 2000s, on MTV2 they used to play less known indie rock videos. At this time that meant everyone's favorite genera emo was huge and new to mainstream. This video was a hit for their underground rock shows for a few weeks but I never heard/saw the band again. I obsessively listened to the song but sadly my computers hard drive blew up that summer and I lost it. To find songs originally I would write down lyrics then google it and that go me to blogs about this band and my only real clue besides the video. The back up singer was a GIRL but had the hair and look of a guy due to the fashion at the time. I remember a lot of posts about how "hot she was" from emo kids for that look. Everyone else was male. The idea of the video and song are that they are going home. In the video home to play a show. In the song they sing about home being all emo going back and during the chorus I think the girl said the same word _____ over and over. The video came out around the time Saosin had their first video and when mostly only rap was getting major play (50 Cent was huge) so even only a year later I was lost trying to find it again. Every few weeks I think of this song then have to beat the idea of ever finding it again out of my head. Help me!

amishsexpot posted:Thank goodness this thread exists. For context, I was at Forever 21 (cheap women's clothing store -- plays mostly dance, pop and pop-rock songs that've come out recently) and heard this really unusually syncopated dance-ish beat. The female vocals sounded like a combination of Michael Jackson, Santogold, and Tegan & Sara. The lyrics were hard to hear -- the singer kind of muddled the words. I think I heard something like "the perfect games you played" and the repeated chorus-y line was something like "runned around" or "wonder 'round". Please help me identify this song! You're my last hope, goons. Argghh! I heard this song again, this time at Sephora. No one who worked there was helpful about what it was, and it was towards the end of the song so I couldn't catch any more lyrics. It sounds like "you turned around/oh turned around" or something like that. It's not a Lady GaGa-ish dance song but it has a cool beat, not something you'd here on Z100 or a pop station, more like something you'd hear on college radio. Dammit, please help!

That is a great list; but this video was too one hit wonder to make the show I guess. I really need to just forget about it as the information I remember is useless for google-fu and it has been years. Thanks for the trip down video memory lane though.

This might be a longshot or a slam dunk for classical fans. I caught this on the radio while I was in the car and Shazam was no help, so I grabbed a snippet on my phone. Sorry for the lovely quality, but you can make out part of the melody pretty easily. This was part of a much longer piece and unfortunately I had to carry on with my errands before the DJ came back on air. If this counts as let me know and I'll take the link down. http://www.mediafire.com/?apnm2c4522dn2zt

This has been bugging me for a long time. Sometime in the past, I heard this rap song. It had a guy (woman?) with a high pitched voice saying something like "Hawdy haw niggas, this is for all you gangbangas, pussy eaters.." and I have literally no idea what this song is called. I think I may have heard it first in a Chris Rock album, but this has been at least 5-6 years ago. It pops up in my head whenever something samples the "Hawdy haw" part and it's been bugging the poo poo out of me ever since. Can someone help me out?
