I'm going to go out on a limb and guess this is moonspeak for "there is no cure for stupid." Dumhed is an awesome word, and we should definitely adopt it.

totalnewbie posted:I always thought this classic was better for pant-making GBS threads potential. drat, so there's a video that handily trumps that but I'm struggling to find it. It was a subaru at the Monte Carlo rally (I think) back in the late 90s/early 2000s where the driver clipped the outside curb, got kicked up in the air, hit the inside cliff wall and flipped the car. It ended up on its roof hanging over open air. Google isn't helping me one damned bit.

Boat posted:"Der er tilsynladende ingen grænse for dumhed." The direct translation would be "apparently there is no limit to stupidity", so yeah. Basically the same thing. If you break down the word into "dum" and "hed", you get "stupid" and "hot". I think stupid hot fits quite nicely, given the situation

China has the right idea I think -- smaller engines because you're never going terribly fast. The highway speed limit is 120 kph but it's enforced by speed cameras (so there's no margin), and in the city you're lucky if you hit more than 50 kph at any time.

Crosspost from the sportscar racing thread in SAS Video clips from a few different spots around Limerock at this weekends ALMS race. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXlDObw7BmY Some good engine noises that you dont get to hear when its on TV. The Jags, Ford GT's, Corvettes and Aston a are far and away the best sounding of the bunch. Its a shame the RSR Jaguars are still so drat slow because they sound awesome in person.

The Scientist posted:What's bad about the Astins? (This is not a question, this is a "I am dumb" question) Absolutely nothing. It sounds awesome, can win races and has two really likeable drivers (Lucas Luhr and Sasha Massen) The Jaguars on the other hand debuted over a year and a half ago and have done nothing but be unreliable and slow, especially for a factory effort.

The Scientist posted:Did I see that correctly? Is the air intake plenum made out of plywood? Yeah, it's a mock-up. There's an article on it in this month's Hot Rod. The shaft that drives the blowers is 8 feet long and weighs 240 pounds. Inside the intake there are multiple chambers that open and close to equalize pressure, but he's not telling anyone how it works. e- on a related note: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRg6qZzUXaM Seizure Meat fucked around with this message at 19:42 on Jul 12, 2011 |
