they do that because the table's showing the differences in various religious diets and there are actually 'yes/no' values for them, something that wouldn't be true if those other categories were added

nah it's more stuff like Snackwells that had "no fat" but the same number of calories as normal cookies but you get hungry again faster this is also linked to our current "giant serving size" trend

like many things, there's a good episode of Frontline about this it's called "Diet Wars"

it's also the end of a very long game by Monsanto, ConAgra, etc. to replace everything we eat with corn or soy products
