My rear leafs are pretty flat looking, but I don't really know anyone with new ones to compare them to. Should they be curved on an XJ? Maybe I'll throw an add-a-leaf at it instead of a rear shackle lift. I live in central PA and there is no such thing as flat roads around here unless I am on an interstate. I don't really mind the bouncing around too much so it isn't much of a priority right now. I should really be saving my money for other things anyway.

I really need a new suspension at this point so it's like I might as well make the new suspension a lift. I'm thinking a 2.5" rough country kit. I've also recently got a pretty big hardon for one of these http://www.4x4groupbuy.com/store/orfab-bolt-sport-cage-198795-jeep-wrangler-p-8335.html Great for on the trail or in traffic when it's too hot for windshields.

As soon as I start posting in this thread, poo poo starts breaking. Just got out to the parking lot, noticed a spot of oil under the XJ. That makes me paranoid. Popped the hood, checked the oil. Very low. Like engine-siezing low. gently caress. Why didn't my gage tell me that the pressure sucked? Put in three quarts and started it up and the electrical connector on the oil pressure sending unit immediately starts pissing like a race horse. gently caress. And of course, nearest auto parts place is a 20 minute drive and the part is special order. They should have it in from another store sometime this evening, I just need to hitch a ride out and back. I didn't even notice when the leak started. I was probably 10 miles from needing a new engine. Who the gently caress makes sending unit housings out of lovely plastic, anyway? Oh Jeep, why do I continue to love you when you treat me like this?

Sandbagger is at the shop getting its last inspection sticker. 2 front bearings, manifold gasket, and body mount bushings (quoted at $700 parts and labor). Next week, I'll be doing the nutter bypass in my driveway. according to the Haynes manual, the reason my engine diesels could be due to the manifold leak or the timing being set wrong by the ECM. We'll see if either fixes the problem. Kibblesnbits posted:Only if you promise to detail my engine bay You bet.

So, yeah. I replaced the sender unit. Leak stopped. What happens next? I broke one of the fittings on the driver's side rear brake line while driving home. Brake fluid all over. Why hath the Jeep God forsaken me? Sunday: stripping surface rust, priming, and painting. Monday: dropping it at my mechanics to have the phantom squeaky noise tracked down and a brake line put in. Tuesday: Breaking something expensive, I am sure.

Beep Beep! Bought a different Jeep! Say hello to my new(ish) '99 TJ Sport. 140,000km, 4.0L, 5 speed, A/C, crank windows, manual locks. Clean as hell, just a tiny spot on the passenger floorboard I have to sand and paint. Coming from a pretty much stock XJ (apart from whopping 225/75/15 tires!!) this one has totally different road manners. Had a blast driving it home from Toronto. Funny how fast you learn to drive 5 spd. when you have no other way home. RIP XJ. You will be missed e: ... now I just have to figure out how to get this drat hardtop off before the snow comes and I have to put it back.

It's not the screws, it's the sockets. Even the expensive ones from Mac/Snap-On/Cornwell/Matco are made of butter and can be twisted off merely by sneezing on them.
