An amazingly badass motorcycle helmet milled from solid billet aluminum on a 5-axis cnc mill. I never understood what the other two axiis were, smell and taste? (I guess maybe its referring to 2 axiis of freedom for the part and vice in addition to the 3 of the spindle). I think the helmet was later used as a trophy for something. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnIvhlKT7SY

The 4th and 5th axis are the head's ability to tilt and the tables ability to rotate. There are other means of achieving 5 axis though.

As the recent purchaser of an '85 mk1 mr2, let me just say that I'm now going to stop off to the side at every light and stop, like motorcycle riders, now. Thanks rear end in a top hat. Can't I just die unexpectedly and in peace like everyone else? edit:Seriously, the truck (lorry)'s not even loaded; And neither one of the cars seem tiny, like at first I thought the green one was like the size of an aspire or geo metro or something. I wonder if its the result of the barricade being a completely immovable object with a lip at bumper height and the truck not even feigning hitting the brakes. How goddamn disconcerting. Since about 2000, gradually every car in their lineup had placed itself in the top 3 for EuroNCAP rating in their various vehicle classes. I think they're still the manufacturer with the highest average safety rating across their current range, even better than Volvo. Their everyday cars are a bit dull, but the Renaulsport range contains some of the best hot hatches you can buy. I currently own a Renaultsport product, and it's magnificent to drive. Sadly, the Renault dealers, at least in my country, are loving atrocious and as a result I just want to set fire to the thing (for some of the hassles I'm having) and buy a car that won't give me poo poo, or have terrible dealer networks. I just drove a rental Megane for two weeks, and although it was quite new and in good condition (only 18k km), dull is exactly how I would describe driving it, and neither the digital dash nor the push-button start could help with that. I guess I got spoiled by a 11 year old GM barge? At least it didn't catch fire on the autobahn so I guess it's not too terrible.

Shaocaholica posted:Is that the rain wiper resting in the middle of the windshield? Wouldn't that get annoying? That's an easy way to keep it from flipping the gently caress out at 200 mph. If you lay it flat against the bottom of the windshield, the drag and lift can overcome the natural resistance of the motors. So your choices are: beefier motors that offer little or no advantage when the wipers are actually in use, or make the wipers themselves aerodynamically stable by lining them up vertically.

Are you American? I used to live in an apartment complex that was really close to one of the largest commercial helicopter schools in the world here in the States. So the place was mostly populated by youngish dudes from all sorts of places, Europe, South America, Nigeria... and it seemed like a lot of the European guys would lease brand new mustangs while they were here attending the school. Meanwhile, mustangs are so ubiquitous on the roads that if it doesn't say "Roush" or "Shelby" I don't even notice 'em anymore. They are everywhere. Now if the tables were turned, I think I'd want a Sierra-Cosworth Ford Escort. You should see the American Ford Escort. It is "the last word in mediocrity".

Nope, I'm American. Like I said about my job, though, supercars don't do it for me anymore. I've always liked muscle cars, but the new ones, the Mustang in particular, are amazing. With much, much less spent on the car and mods, you can out accelerate almost every supercar there is. Also, since I am American, turns are inconsequential to me.
