I think girls are just not good at riding things with two wheels possibly... I don't know where they found these chicks.

I almost made it thought the whole thing until the final moment when Maria Fornsberg takes first...while an unnamed rider to the right takes a dip in a mud pool.

Edit: It's also a good thing Red Bull sponsored them, otherwise how would they afford this log?

The whole engine seems to need to nest higher up into the frame.

What about the engine meeting the frame halfway? I really like the form going over the handle bars. The woman is very pleasing in body shape, but seems incredibly out of place, leaning over the back. Seem like if that drawing were to suddenly come to life, the bike would immediately fall over.

EDIT: Watched the women's xgames video, then the men's. It reminded me of why I found long way round so frustrating, charlie and ewan couldn't go fast enough nor could they seem to keep their feet off the ground. I must say that I find enduro cross to be much more entertaining than something like supercross.

You know, the highlight videos seem oddly slow in spots, this video has the some of the footage at regular speed. No women though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83ZDmPEMKxM

Seriously though, were those amatuers or something? There is no way a pro rider, man or woman, should ride so timid as that. Hilarious though. I especially like the end where the winner crosses the finish line and as they pan out someone is eating it in a mud puddle over on the right.

I think the point is Z3n is a space cowboy on the edge of a frontier unknown to man, he's out there pushing the limits, trail braking into the abyss. Finding out where the edge of the razor is, turning to face the darkness and revving his 690 into it's vast gaze. You gotta live this to learn it bro.

That is a very cool setup, can't tell if there is control over the rotation or if it just floats. If it just floats it is great for looking at the rider but less so for looking outwards.

I believe theres another equally long/heavy counterbalance arm on the other end that keeps it from swinging all over the place, meaning you have what is basically a 6-foot helicopter-esque rotor on your helmet. Very dorky looking, but some of the best mounts are. Not for tight trails obviously.

I'd bring the engine a bit higher, mount the rear shock horizontally as mentioned, ideally parallel to the underneath of the seat frame/top of the tank, for better aesthetics, & I think the seat needs to be a bit further back to stop the rider's arms being too cramped.
Also, you could lessen the rake angle a bit, too. I reckon that'd make the bike look a bit more hunched forward, & far more aggresive.

The guys were crashing almost as much as the girls. poo poo like that is INCREDIBLY difficult to ride through/over/etc with any kind of grace. I'm happy I can get over a moderate sized log on my dirtbike without eating poo poo. The stuff they're riding? I'd be lucky to make a single lap.

Nope! Nick Apex is the stunter in the first video, and Mekatrix is probably one of the best motorcycle drifters on the planet. You can see more of him ripping it up on the MotoJournal 2010 Recce here. If you just want to watch him hoon you can skip to around 3 minutes, but it's all drat good and hilarious.

It's cool and all, but actually the H2 engine was a bit boring for large displacement 2-strokes at the time. Way more modification/tuning potential in the the GT750 - much better lubrication system (SRIS) and water cooled too and also a rock solid gearbox, something the H2 can't exactly brag about.
