Is drumnbass' scene like dubstep where they hate house music and vice versa? I've never actually met another person who listened to drumnbass strangely enough. In my area of Houston it's just a lot of Dubstepping weirdies.

I live in the middle of the US so I am not a UK raver or anything, but House and Trance are what got me into Drum & Bass to start with. Kind of just a dance music progression thing. Right now I would take D&B over anything, but I still love Electro-House (not as much House and trance anymore) and listen to a decent amount of dubstep too.

This is a weird comment -- the dubstep scene (the non-brostep scene, anyway) is heavily crossing over with the house scene these days I think. There's a lot of deep house that's creeping into dubstep.

Sorry, I honestly probably don't have exposure to the best example of people as well as being a little unfamiliar with electronic music in general. Just people I know will jam to, say, Skrillex but not really anything else that doesnt have the WOMP WOMP WOMP all in it if that makes sense.

Prefer drum n bass, but still listen to a lot of electro house. However I was never really into trancex aside from a little Tiesto. And I still listen to hip hop a lot as well. And I'm up in Winnipeg, Canada. If there is a DnB scene here, I know nothing of it.

There's a lot of deep house that's creeping into dubstep. Or maybe the dubstep is creeping into deep house eh? I'm just being a fanny there, but seriously, I find it a right shame if that's the state of the Dubstep scene in your area(or indeed anywhere else in the states), a right shame. Especially since Dubstep came out of the garage scene, so the House link has always been there, in the deep roots. Double shame since I seem to remember Texas being particulary ahead in terms of Dubstep. Of course that was in ye olde days, so it's probably all changed now. But, by the by, if you're ever interested in some good Dubstep, or have any questions on that or other modern UK-ified House and Bass music, there's always the UK Bass thread(what? I need to plug my own thread now and then!). But otherwise keep your eyes and ears peeled on this thread, a lot of real knowledgeable folk here who'll keep you right on the D&B tip. I seem to remember there is some Houston(or at least Texas) D&B folk here? I think? I might be getting confused mind you.

It amazes me to see how many people blow their loads around here over Skrillex and other NOISE-BEEP-DOOP-WOMP "dubstep" artists. Some of the kids around here are so protective of their lovely Skrillex music too. Since I'm into electro-house too, I like a couple of tunes from the brostep camp. Some Flux Pavillion, maybe a little Doctor P too. But a lot of stuff these days is just throwing as many random noises together at once as possible. Camo & Krooked's latest release for example. All Fall Down is an awesome dubstep track in my opinion. But if you listen to the Club Mix of it, it turns to poo poo. Enough ranting about that crap though. Here's some tracks. "Something About You (J Majik & Wickaman Remix)" - Inhaler ft. Christian Burns This one isn't new I guess. New upload on a drum & bass channel on youtube though. Christian Burns does vocals for a few tracks I like in House and Trace stuff, so I naturally liked this track. "Play Tonight" - Tantrum Desire Tantrum Desire is one of my favorites. I always think of Original Sin and Taxman when I hear "Jump Up" but I guess that is what this would be classified as. The whole EP is pretty good honestly.

I am completely on board with this. I didn't really "get" any of the dubstep I had heard until this one. I liked some of the drumstep stuff I heard: Sub Focus's remix of Hold On and Calibre's Steptoe (SOOOOO SEX). Other than that, I still don't "get" it even though my buddy listens to some good stuff. To sum up: I'm on the Camo & Krooked bandwagon. All Fall Down backed with Breezeblock makes for such a massive release. I may get it on vinyl.

Dubstep attracts people that hate house because of its recent popularity you get people coming in from very uninvolved music backgrounds. Example of this is you get people linking songs on facebook and a third person will read the appealing comments and decide to give it a listen. I have a coworker just getting into it and usually he listens to his favorite band Breaking Benjamin. Its cool because normally he's so rejective of any electronic music genre but when he found something he actually connects with he wants to go to the shows and learn more. Unrelated but cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqVR7_EK_FE

I know that they are all about mixing electro and drum and bass, so it should come as no surprise that they want to mix it with dubstep too, but drat.

Thanks for the insight. I think the best comment was the one about "uninvolved" people, that just about sums it up in my opinion. People don't care about the actual music but just the fact that they are on some sort of bandwagon. WOMP WOMP WOMP

The new tune clip - I like the pad and shuffley break, not so in to the bass tone or piano, but sounds like a great start. Also like the change up about 50 seconds in. Anyways, been kind of quiet this summer, but here's a work in progress I just uploaded: http://soundcloud.com/r4ns0m/harry-ransom-persistance. Feedback/critique appreciated, can PM me or whatever.

Riot.EXE posted:They don't know the history...they just heard Skrillex-SICK-BRO-type poo poo and consider that the ONLY Dubstep. Pretty much this, yeah. Everybody knows about dubstep because "that is what skrillex makes! His beats are so sick!" The ironic part is that Skrillex is the nerdiest looking prick. Over half of his fan-base are the kind that would throw him in a locker if he looked them in the eyes in their high school hallway. In other news, the new release on Black Sun Empire is loving killer. "One" - Bulletproof & Alvin Risk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ex0Jivi7-Cw This one is slightly liquid-tinged, and it mixes with some dark-ish vibes to sound pretty awesome I think. Awesome track in my book. "Traum" - Black Sun Empire & Counterstrike http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqkZV9o9_NU The sound clip on this track is a little eerie, and I like it. Mixes with some heavy and dark neuro beats. Just a great release in general if you ask me.

Yeah, that's the sort of thing i'm looking for, but not quite. Let me order Rage's, Zahi's and EMUpirate's suggestions on how close each one is with some comments. Sorry with my language is a bit fluffy, but I never learned the jargon of music in general, let alone electronic stuff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0akFhWHKwaI Shapeshifter - Bring Change This has the "energy" that i'm looking for, but seems "drawn out" a bit and only has one peak. Danny Byrd & Netsky - Tonight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lspZ9A4COlc Yeah this one is fairly close. Would like it if it was hybridized with "the sound" of the next song: Dave Wallace - State Of Mind http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZFpd5pdcRU This one is really nice, but a bit too.. relaxed? I'd define this as a "positive chill-out". Doesn't seem to have much energy behind it. quote:High Contrast - Lovesick Xerxes17 fucked around with this message at 03:03 on Aug 4, 2011 |

guys I love you all. I've been into Drum and Bass for years and been around Dogs on Acid, dnbforums and breakbeat.co.uk boards and I always felt that a lot of people on there were way too close minded about Dnb, most of the time you get called out for listening to clownstep if you don't adhere to what the guys on there listen. Also the rivalry between those boards always made me laugh. I found this awesome Dnb thread a few weeks ago and basically went thru it entirely and I found so many new and old tunes to add into my mixes it's incredible, you sirs have good tastes Since you've been all so good to me, I wanted to share an artist I recently discovered completely by accident, Neutral Point which kicks some asses I think. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEI5IxkScrY
