Not sure if it's been posted, but there are a couple of new mockups of what the UI might look like some time in the future: Windows Vista/7: Mac: More mockups here. Also, the level of nerdrage from people on the interwebs about Firefox version numbering is horrendous, complaining that the recent releases should all be 4.1, 4.2 etc. People don't seem to get it that the new way of doing things gets performance improvements and new features to end users faster. Some folks even want Firefox to go back to the old way of doing things... you know, shipping stuff 5 months late, beta for the better part of a year. In terms of space usage, having tabs on the side is still far and away the better option. Particularly in a world where 90% of people have widescreen monitors. (I use Tree Style Tab if you care.)

fourwood posted:Are they really planning on a design that only has space for ~3 full-size tabs when maximized? Well it's probably safe to assume that tabs will resize as more are opened, as is current practice. Also probably a safe bet most people are running resolutions higher than 1200x800.

So the problem seems to be that while the Firefox button is moving, the minimize/maximize/close buttons aren't moving because the tab groups dropdown shows up below them. http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/782562 looks like a good place to start because they are messing with the minimize/maximize/close buttons in userChrome.css. Dang so after upgrading to FF6 this addon that I love finally broke, even changing the max version number now wont fix it, so does anyone know of a good addon that can replace this where I can get the same functionality? https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/signature/ The addon is Signature, it was great for quickly entering in different emails and usernames for pretty much anything you needed to log into with a simple right click.

I know this isn't a tech support forum, but has anyone else had issues with random freezing since the update? Firefox 6 has been randomly "not responding" and then coming back after about 10-15 seconds, the perpetuity is annoying. I've tried disabling all of my add-ons, accessing bookmarks from something other than the bar, and reinstalling FF5 (clean wipe), and nothing. Hope it's just me and not Firefox, because I'll be losing my favorite browser.

It's been working fine for me, actually better than FF5. Have you tried making a new profile to see if that helps? If so, cleaning/compacting your SQLite databases might make a difference. They hold your history and some other stuff. CCleaner will do this for you if you want to give it a try.

I tried CCleaner, but to no effect, it was the second program I installed after I formatted! I should be clear, in FF5, this simply did not happen, it ran flawlessly. I formatted, installed FF5 and it started freezing, did a clean wipe of the former install and installed Firefox 6, to the same effects. Very strange, but I will just use something in the interim! Thanks for the suggestion LoKout!

Did Firefox 6 change the font rendering or something? It looks weird as hell. How do I put it back if they did? VVV - Thanks for that. I don't know why they put stuff like that as the default. ChrisAsmadi fucked around with this message at 03:27 on Aug 18, 2011 |

Anyone know of a simple extension that lets you just stack tabs like Opera? It's the only feature I really, really want that Opera has. I don't really want to use panorama, as it's awful (things are hidden, so I forget they're there). I hear a few extensions offer this as an option, but ideally I just want an extension that only does this, fast and easy.

From their wiki : Schedule Goal: 1-April-2010 (that was for phase 2 of the project, which as far as I know is still the current phase).

Given what they're supposed to be doing in 8 with garbage collecting and other under the hood changes, it might actually happen this time, but I wouldn't hold them to it.

7 is now Beta and 8 is Aurora now btw. So far the biggest change I see in 8 (although this may had existed in nightly) is that on the first start it gives you a window where you can disable 3rd forced plugins and the Aurora button is blue. I blew out my profile as I was having freezes so I can't really tell if it really is faster than 7 was but it certainly feels like it. BTW, if you experience similar and use Lastpass disable it and use the xpi version instead. Seems to be due to a bug that only happens on x64 systems per a blog post I ran into. https://lastpass.com/lp_no_bin.xpi
