And I don't know much about eighties because most of that poo poo is hard to find unless you happen to have a local record store with good Pacific connections and happen to have lots of money to spend on seven inches. But if you're into more of the punky side of hardcore, and you like cute Japanese chicks, I highly suggest Thug Murder.

Shannon Shaw is the bassist in Hunx and His Punx, and the stuff with the Clams is totally rad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NrAWAxE5dM I've posted a few lists of bands in the recommendation thread, kinda too lazy to dig them up myself and I don't want to come off as pompous. If you're interested in 90s stuff, pick up the book We Never Learn: The Gunk Punk Undergut 1988-2001, written by Eric Davidson of New Bomb Turks. For stuff coming out today, it's probably easier for me to just list labels. In The Red, Goner, Mexican Summer, Infinity Cat, HoZac, Trouble In Mind, Rob's House, Douchemaster, Dirtnap, P.Trash, Hardly Art... If you already know your poo poo, here's some recent poo poo off the top of my head... The Shrapnelles put out a killer 7" on HoZac, Useless Eaters (which is just one guy, Seth Sutton) have released an LP and a 7" so far this year, have another LP and more 7"s coming soon, and Seth has a new band on the way called Feral Beat (it's like dude inherited the spirit of Jay Reatard or something), The Hex Dispensers and King Tuff put out a split in April or May that kicks rear end, and Bad Sports have a new LP out on Dirtnap.

As far as Shannon goes, I'm quite familiar. For the punk radio show I work on and mentioned earlier (selfless plug: http://www.facebook.com/ClashedAttitudes, but at the time it was another show called Out of Step, long story), we had The Clams and Hunx in for an in-studio and interview a few months back. Hung out with them a bit, awesome musicians and hilarious people, too. And as for the suggestions, I really appreciate it. I'm familiar with a few of those labels, but unknowing of most. I will look into them, thanks much.

New Circle Takes the Square EP streaming at bandcamp. http://ctts.bandcamp.com/album/decompositions-vol-i-chapter-1-rites-of-initiation I figured it'd be the Chinese Democracy of screamo, so my expectations were pretty low but it's actually really good so far.

Lots of people in this thread know CTTS! Skramz, Screamo, Post-hardcore, Punk rock, whatever you want to call it! Yaphet Kotto, Kodan Armada, Envy, Pageninetynine and orchid have been popular here before. Also I always miss the cool discussions like the jawbreaker discussion and the pg.99 discussion. Whatever, So incredibly pumped for this album. Now for Decompositions VOl. I to drop, and from the dumpster to the grave. Also Hedgecore, Dead Ringer's EP is awesome, and people who don't like it should be ashamed, You know what though? When I youtube jawbreaker songs for people, your singer's youtube account is always like, in the related videos, or often the second result. So tell me, why haven't you guys covered world of poo poo huh?

Speaking of recommendations, I wonder if anyone here happens to know of any album or band that sounds like The Methadones' Ill at Ease album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pll6zQDS2Zc Not just pop-punk, Ill-at-ease sounds pretty distinct from their other discography (to me at least) except for maybe Gary Glitter, and even then it is fairly distinct.

The beginning of the first track from the CTTS EP (minus the back vocals) sounds a lot like The Hope Conspiracy for some reason. I think it's the guitar tone and vocals.

Speaking of CTTS (sort of) Was anyone else at the Pg.99 show? The last (and only other) time I saw them was a decade ago in 2001, where they played a house show but blew a fuse during the first song and couldn't actually play. Being able to finally see them play a decade later was a dream come true. I need more music like them - I haven't listened to legitimate screamo in a long time.

Man, I haven't seen Dangers in a while. I think the last time I saw them was actually that Portraits Of Past show at The Smell a couple years ago. I saw Loma, Punch and Beau Navire on Sunday night, great show. Hadn't seen any of them in a while since they didn't play around here much recently before their recent tours. Loma's recording right now so I'm looking forward to hearing that.

My band has a new(roughly mixed) song on our Facebook. Our guitarist has been listening to a little too much Infest lately. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Downpour/123009444385826!/pages/Downpour/123009444385826?sk=info The track is called "Get Goin'", it should be on the bottom of the page. Also, we are playing tonight in Brisbane with Idylls, Capeweather and Acid Snake, it is a benefit show for a friend's band . Tomorrow night is Bastardfest in Brisbane as well and I get to rage to some Extortion, I Exist, Blood Duster and Psychroptic. Are there any Brissy or SE QLD goons checking this thread at all?
