It's a radial!
Trumpeter swans! Largest bird in North America.

Males (also known as Cobs) typically measure from 145 to 163 centimetres (57 to 64 in) and weigh 11.8 kilograms (26 lb); females typically range from 139 to 150 centimetres (55 to 59 in) and weigh 10 kilograms (22 lb). The average wingspan is 2.03 metres (6.7 ft)

God was kind when he decided to not make these guys carnivorous.

Fantastic pictures!

But, the American White Pelican (Pelecanus erythrorhynchos) can hit 14 kg (and they *are* carnivorous). I don't know what the maximum recorded weight of a Trumpeter is, though.

The local lorikeets are impossible to take pictures of. They're SUPER scared of humans and I can never get a good shot of them. The other day, they all decided to hang out in the tree behind my house just before a thunderstorm came through, screeching, so I grabbed my camera and slowly opened the door... which was enough to make 90% of them fly away. I got a couple, but it was so dark that the shutter speed was way too slow and my ISO way too high so I'm not real happy with these shots but drat it lorikeets I am still posting them because you are the worst birds ever.

I swear one day I will get good photos of these birds.

Ospreys apparently live pretty much everywhere except Antartica. Also they are seriously awesome birds in pretty much every way. The way they hover before catching a fish is mindblowing considering their size.

SUCK IT LORIKEETS

Finally got a good picture of these two fighting. They apparently were too busy beating on each other (or having sex, you never can tell with birds) to care about the fact that I was right under them with my camera)

edit: I didn't realize my post on the lorikeets was so sloppy and underexposed. So here's the version that doesn't look like I took it ith a 5-year-old cell phone:

I never realised how hard it is to shoot birds! After being inspired by this thread I gave it a go for the first time this weekend, and now I know why bird photographers can spend so much money on crazy lenses! It was drat hard to get focus with my cheap little 70-300, and it was too wet for me to risk taking my 70-400 out in the light rain. I had fun despite getting hundreds of almost identical photos of what I think is an Osprey, but I'm not sure because I have no idea about birds.

I don't have anything exotic unfortunately. This is standard Hong Kong fare. I did see a lovely blue magpie outside my balcony the other day, but had left the camera at work - typical. I'll get up early tomorrow and see if it's around. These are literally the first and only shots I have taken of our feathered friends. Got a lot to learn.
