Is there an issue I'm missing with pwnage 4.1.3 and the 3gs 4.2.1 ipsw? I can't get it to load, I can get it to see the 4.1 3gs ipsw, but that's giving me another issue in that it won't combine in the ipad baseband to the custom ipsw (I select it, it takes it, but once the phone is done, the baseband sticks at 5.14.2; which afaik cannot be unlocked.) I'm behind a firewall that's blocking me from getting the baseband the redsn0w way; or I'd try that. Isn't it always the son of a friend's phone that is the biggest pain in the rear end to fix

I'm on an iPod touch and want to make it work with a bluetooth phone headset. Is there a Cydia app/tweak/whathaveyou for that purpose? Most of the results I got googling for this had to do with listening to music over the thing, which I did manage to make work, but is not the goal.

I just got a refurbished iPod Touch (3rd Gen) with iOS 3.1.3 on it. Jailbreakme.com recommends I upgrade to iOS 4.0, 3.1.3 fails to install. How can I do this without upgrading to the newest iOS? can you do the restore thing?

I've been away from the jailbreaking (hell, I've only got an iPhone 3G) for a bit, so a lot is new to me. After reading up, is Apple still signing the 4.0.1 firmware? With an already-jailbroken phone, can I update to 4.0.1 via iTunes and jailbreak using jailbreakme.com?

I could be wrong, but I don't think the 3G is affected by the whole SHSH signing thing and you SHOULD be able to move freely between all the supported OSes.

That's not true at all. Not only do both new and old bootrom 3GS devices need SHSH blobs, but so does the 3G *for iOS 4.x firmwares*. They implemented the SHSH check in software for the 3G. frumpsnake fucked around with this message at 18:37 on Aug 20, 2011 |

IIRC the difference with the early bootrom 3GS is that it can always be pwned (with blackra1n or limera1n or a modified firmware).

I can't seem to ever get into DFU mode. I have an iTouch 4.2.1 MC model, and I've tried all of the well known MC-compatible versions, but I've never been able to get into DFU under any circumstances. Is it possible that one of my buttons is broken and can't be held down properly?

New version of WifiSMS is on its way (today, maybe) for anyone who's interested. Change log: WifiSMS Change Log posted:1.0.5 I personally am loving this app, for the same reason the developer created it; being able to send texts on the job without touching your phone!

Anybody try FlashCam yet? It puts buttons for flashlight/camera on your lock screen. It's pretty cool...but it has one really ugly bug, as far as I can tell: The camera is supposed to have a PIN bypass which is supposed to let you use the camera without unlocking the phone and then lock it again when you're done...the unlock works, but it never locks the phone when you close the camera app.

I discovered a rather unusual bug and I have no idea what's causing it, because I don't remember installing anything recently that might gently caress with it; I can't slide to answer calls. Anybody have a clue as to what could be causing this? I'm running 4.3.1 on an Iphone 4, and I'd loving love to know why my phone is being such a jerk.

I've been having a few issues with my iPhone 4, and I'm thinking they might be jailbreak/unlock related. I'm running 4.3.3, but I forgot what I jailbroke with, whatever the easy one was for 4.3.3. Im on AT&T, but I unlocked with snowbreeze to get rid of the annoying one-signal-bar-all-the-time poo poo. Anyway, from time to time my wifi seems to stop working. The icon will be there with full bars, but I cant actually load websites, etc. It comes back (at least briefly) if I go to settings->wifi->off then back on. Not the worst thing, but kind of annoying when I have to do it 5 or 6 times in the span of half an hour. Problem two is the visual voicemail, which I'm thinking is probably related to the unlock. Voicemails no longer seem to show up there, and I don't seem to get any alerts. I have to guess when I think I have a voicemail, and call in to hear any messages. I hadn't experienced this before my most recent jailbreak/unlock. Anyone else experience these problems or can possibly shed some insight here?

About a month ago, I completely got the shits with Apple. I was going to break my contract and get a HTC of some sort, but it's going to be a bit more than I can afford. Jailbreaking looks much easier than it used to, but I have one question first - I've jsut requested a phone unlock via my mobile company. They said wait 48 hours then sync with iTunes and it should be unlocked. Can I jailbreak in the mean time or will that gently caress everything up completely? Edit: Turns out I don't care. We'll see what happens when I try to unlock it, I guess. Elector_Nerdlingen fucked around with this message at 11:58 on Aug 25, 2011 |

I'm using the Suave WinterBoard theme and love it, except that it uses its own boring gray gradient wallpaper instead of the one I've got set (though it returns to the system wallpaper when a folder's open, teasing me..) Is there a way to disable theme wallpapers that I'm not seeing, or is the best way to get my wallpaper to show up just SSHing in to find and replace Suave's wallpaper image?

If you SSH in, just delete the wallpaper or lock background (whatever it is named) file from the theme and you can use your own background again.

Just use SSH and replace the existing icon with the one you want to use. Directory for applications on the phone is private/var/stash/applications, if I am remembering it off the top of my head correctly. Look for icon@2x.png for the retina icon and replace it with your version.

My iphone appears to be having issues. I only have a few patches installed on it and every time I turn it on the radio has crashed and there's "No Service." The only way to fix this is to fully reboot the phone where it works for a bit and then it crashes again. It seems that the crashes happen when I get text messages. Usually one will go through and after that and a little while has passed it crashes out. Anyone know why this happens? About to just say gently caress it and ditch jailbreaking because this is becoming a major problem. My phone is a CDMA running 4.2.8 with redsn0w. Edit: actually the only patch I have installed is Manual Correct.

People were theming before WinterBoard existed. WinterBoard just made theming easier. Like it was pointed out, you just have to manually replace the files on your device (really easy with something like FileZilla/SFTP). Just look at the file names used in the themes and replace the actual files with those to theme without having to use WinterBoard.

BiteSMS, hands down, the most useful Jailbroken app for me. I paid for it when it was still $12 and it was worth every penny. Secondary is LockInfo, but iOS5 has changed that.

Assuming the jailbreaking scene stays active well into iOS5, I still have every intention of using LockInfo over the native notification center. LockInfo is user extensible and themeable. I know most people aren't big on themes, but I've been using Glasklart for like 3 years now, and absolutely love having a very muted, greyscale theme. Much easier on the eyes. And being able to add user extensions to LockInfo has been pretty fantastic too. I've got 4 people in my favorites list for phone calls, and that's exactly the width of the favorites panel in LockInfo, so I can just bring up the people I call most frequently there and call them without ever unlocking my phone. It's a pretty minor thing, but still useful.

Hopefully you guys will be able to steer me in the right direction. I spilled some water on my phone a month ago, but my phone seems to work fine other than the home button constantly spazzes like its stuck double pressing. For the most part it has been fine only happening once or twice a day but for the last few days it has been going on for hours at a time. The only way I can stop it is if I hold down the home button and it may go away for a few seconds. Is there any way I can disable the hardware function of the home button, but keep the software function? Like right now I can use Activator to do the same action as pressing the home button, but I have not been able to find a way to disable the hardware part of the home button. I tried incarcerapp app but that also disable the action in Activator.
