Podmass put The Best Show in "The Rest" yet again this week! That is insane, back-to-back some of the best shows in a while!

If someone ever wanted to try the show, do go for this week's and last week's.

The one constant theme that has annoyed the poo poo out of me though is when I hear him talk on Rogan the past couple times and even on the Lavender Hour is that our society is some elaborate "game" that we all play in. "Why do we even believe in this game? Cops? What the gently caress is that?! Some guy says he's the president and we're supposed to believe him?" Please shut up Duncan. Yes, it all seems like a game, and that game is called life.

The latest WTF with Doug Stanhope is pretty good. I was a little surprised to hear that in the weeks he's not drunk/drugged out on the road, he lives a generally sober small town life on the Mexican border. His friends are normal people in the late 50s who don't know/care what he does for a living, he hosts football parties every Sunday, and gets really into shows like Celebrity Apprentice.

It's more like when he says that "the government is shutting down the space program! Scienece means nothing to us now!" or talking about how awful people are and yes, everything listed above. It's kind of funny because he constantly mentions Ram Dass with this kind of unquestioning reverence, which he criticisize "the plebs" of giving to almost anyone else.

He also seems super mean to Natasha. I feel like I listen to an hour of him implying how much better he is than her. He's just constantly berating her and aparently she's his girlfriend?

It's funny because I've voted either Green or Liberal (in Canada) in every election I've ever participated in in my life. I consider myself a pretty lefty, liberal minded person but I can kind of see how reasonable people hate Liberals when I listen to Duncan.

I don't realy have the interest or patience for Joe Rogan so I was wondering if it's a character.

I was just wondering if it's a schtick or not.

I love Duncan. I think he is hilarious, and having read Ram Dass, and a bunch of other texts that he talks about, I really don't mind when he goes on about that stuff.

I don't find that he is mean to Natasha. I would probably be worse if I had to put up with her. She is the queen of the girls in high school who have no intelligence whatsoever but like to loudly talk about things and try to sound smart. How could she NEVER have heard of a sleeper cell while living in America? Some of the things she says makes me rub my eyes because I can't believe someone is that unintelligent. She doesn't even get basic concepts sometimes.

You should have been voting NDP like the rest the real left wingers in the country. :colbert: That said I think Duncan's fun to listen to when you're in a certain... "mindset". That can be said about the whole Joe Rogan podcast, I guess.

I'm listening to the Nick Swardson episode from early this year(i think) and it's really good, got a lot more respect for him after hearing about his standup career and his story about booting Kramer off the stage.

I haven't listened to every episode, but it seems like some of the podcasts (thinking F Plus or Complete Guide to Everything) don't handle being compacted to 1.5-2 minutes well, or aren't really tailored for each challenge (it's people reading things on the Internet/two guys talking about stuff, would more recurring segments or more sketches or weekly guests really make it better?) Reality shows are by nature reductive, but making all the podcasts do all the possible things a comedy podcast can do in 2 minute clips feels needlessly reductive.

GETTIN MAD AND WORDY ABOUT COMEDY PODCAST JUDGING I guess.

I agree with you, the premise is definitely flawed in that a comedy podcast doesn't need all this stuff to be great. It has brought some podcasts to me that I wouldn't have ever heard of without it though, and I gave some of the losers an extended try, so I think they got at least some of what they wanted out of it even if they didn't win.

Didn't Besser or one of the other judges flat-out say he "couldn't be expected to listen to an entire podcast"? I'm admittedly a big fan of most of Earwolf's stuff but Christ that's asinine.

I agree the show does give good exposure to some pretty good podcasts, though.

Definitely the strangest has been Lou Reads. It's a bit jarring to be surrounded by some of the most beautiful natural scenery while a guy reads you posts about diaper fetishes and bestiality. However, I did learn to stay far away from any centipedes I find on my hikes.

I had to stop listening when they got to the "Actually, his last name was Sjunior."

"Patrice Spieces?"

You're not lying, friend. The show's been excellent. The 8/16 show was probably the best I've heard since I started listening, especially the first hour.

With a few exceptions, if he kicked the current crop of regular callers to the curb for good, it would only be for the best. Even Spike's only entertaining now when Tom spends two minutes explaining him to the audience. And, call me crazy, but I never got the thing with the goddamn puppet. That "I'm not a real boy" schtick was tired when Willie Tyler & Lester were doing it, for god's sake.
