You'd think he'd get an infection as much as they travel and work in unsanitary conditions. Antibiotics shelf life isn't that long, either. And what's with these zombies? The dead can't reanimate to a semblance of life and walk the earth, eating the flesh of the living. What kind of hack writing is this!

Get ready for 5 to 6 more issues of filler. Kirkman seems to think he can get away with it as long as after those 5 or 6 issues he does something somewhat interesting. When they got to this place, it was a long time before something happened....granted, that something was pretty cool....then 5 or 6 issues went by where nothing happens. Then Carl wakes up. That was the interesting thing! It's like he bought himself some time to think of something to do next. I never thought I would turn on this series so fast... It used to be my favorite ongoing series. Here's to hoping he's just trolling us and he has something awesome coming down the pipe.

Well, it's winding down at almost the exact point Kirkman said it would. I think it was a great run and it's easily met its creator's expectations.

I know this might be better in the television thread, but since it shows scenes from a comic story, I thought I would post it here as well. It looks like the television series will at least go to Herchel's farm in season two, and judging by Rick carrying a wounded Carl, they will at least introduce them the same way. Apparently Michonne will be introduced in season three. I wonder how far off the path they will go in this season compared to the books? Below is the trailer for the second season. http://www.examiner.com/horror-in-pittsburgh/first-look-at-the-walking-dead-season-2

He's probably devoting more of his time to the "Rise of the Governor" thing that they put an excerpt of in the end of this issue. I haven't actually read that, btw. If that was the whole thing, disregard this post. I just assumed it was a novel-esque portion of what would be a spin-off series

Pretty sure it was just a small snippet from the book. I didn't read it either, though I rarely like reading small sections of books. Also, as I'm sure everyone has already heard. Frank Darabont stepped down from the show. This could be really bad...or it might not really matter that much. Glen Mazzara has stepped in as lead producer. He wrote a bunch of episodes of The Shield(Best show ever) and I believe he wrote the episode "Wildfire" for season 1 of The Walking Dead. Time will tell I suppose. At least we'll get season 2 before it gets cancelled.

Just had a quick thought of an idea.... *time passes* Carl grows up, realized Rick has become as sociopathic as the governor, and kills him. Rick has always said he's done what he's done to protect himself and his family. Carl will understand that he needs to do whats right for whatever community they're in.

Frank stepping down as show runner doesn't worry me much. This season must have already been planned out pretty well enough and I'm sure him doing the duties of show running and picking up the slack of the canned writers must have just been too much for him.

I felt like the "No Way Out" needed to bring some drastic changes to the book to keep it fresh, ie Rick dying and the story following Carl.

I love how the gun shot that caused severe memory issues is something that can easily be treated and Rick is telling Carl that he can leave there in a day.

I think the only thing that can turn this story around is explaining why the zombie outbreak began and persists.

Yeah, doesn't Carl have, like, a hole in his head? I can't imagine they really have the capacity to put a plate on his skull or anything.

Even if that stuff dries out, you just add a little water, it'll be good as new in no time. If you're really worried about it, a few strips of duct tape over the spackle will make him look like a futuristic robot!

I could understand if one of the survivors felt that he could do the job better, I could understand if the man was just paranoid over something, but the group of Rick & Friends have made life even better now, they saved their lives and now they want to overthrow them because... of something? And Carl just getting back into the kid he was (with a small problem with his memory that'll be solved anyways) after having half his thread blown to pieces? I loving hate this comic now. Why couldn't he have made it so that Carl was a drooling vegetable instead? Or something that is you know, realistic*. gently caress, he could've just put Carl in a coma for a few years, have him wake up, Rick and most of the old crew dead**, so that he could become the new leader. *In contrast to the dead walking and all that yadda yadda. **I don't think Michonne will ever die.

The annoying aspect of the hole in the head is that they could have easily achieved this "selectively reset/gently caress with his memory" by having him bumped in the head via falling roof or other non bullet hole in the skull accident. Him getting shot in the face and being all cool with one less eye is just terrible.

I really thought Carl getting shot was going to lead somewhere interesting. After all, the series started when his father was shot and went into a coma. Kirkman not drawing parallels between the two events is the surprising thing to me. I thought writers lived for that poo poo.

Totally agree, the buildup to Carl waking up would have been a great way to spring into a new direction in the story if he did it like Rick's awakening in the beginning. Currently, the comic feels like it is treading water but not in a way that would be more enjoyable to read in a full chunk (like the prison section). And the end of this most recent issue didn't make me feel any better.

Doesn't Kirkman pretty much run Image now though? He's probably in the same boat McFarlane was with Spawn around this issue range as well ... where nothing is really happening because you are overextended running the company, doing the TV stuff, movie stuff etc.

So with the new issue random people who we never paid attention to are calling the "sane" people insane and I guess are looking to usurp control. Shocking.

This is a second time those "Sane" people have been shown talking in congress like that and I have absolutely no clue who they are. They're just like non-characters.

Anyone read the tie in novel? I thought the twist at the end was quite interesting but I'm going to have to reread the earlier issues of the series to see if there are any hints or if Kirkman just pulled it out of his rear end like I expect
