You're so wrong! Outnumbered is a really great show, I'd encourage you to give the earlier series a second chance. It's well written and the kids are endearing.

That said, I did get the impression from the first episode of this series that the kids are getting a bit old. I trust the writers would never let it get like My Family, so I'd imagine this'd be the last series unless they go in a different direction with some of the characters. I mean, Jake has had to evolve over the series, but three Jakes wouldn't make for a very fun show.

Watching Appropriate Adult and it's pretty good, especially for ITV. They must have said 'Appropriate Adult' about 30 times so far though.

I'm not sure if it's just me associating Dominic West with the Wire, but parts of it play like really dark comedy. First of there's the first West monologue casually talking about how he murdered his daughter whilst the first time appropriate adult is obviously mortified and underprepared. Then there was West saying "If only they knew" with typical Dominic West "I'm smarter than them" :smug:, and then "We were having an arugment and somehow she ended up strangled."

Perhaps me reading humour into this says more about me than the program.

Yeah, I'm really enjoying Appropriate Adult. I'm a fan of Emily Watson and she's doing a great job of showing her increasing horror at everything West admits to. If only ITV could do more things like this, rather than whatever the hell it is they show 95% of the time.

Sounds like a jolly good reason to get it on DVD!

Check 4OD, maybe it will go on there since it's a Channel 4 film.

My main problem with Appropriate Adult, and I had it with The Hour as well, is that there have been chances for West to exclaim "What the gently caress did I do?" and they haven't capitalised on it. Shoddy programming.

It's still about as much of a game as Deal or No Deal.

Deal or No Deal is a terrible show, but is responsible for one of the most memorable moments of TV for me. You haven't truly seen the worst that TV has to offer until you've seen a grown man breaking down and crying over losing his shot at the money he needed to give his family a decent Christmas. The icing on the cake: he is wearing an elf costume because it's a festive episode.

Deal or No Deal is a game in which a man called The Banker attempts to pinpoint the exact level of cowardice of a person based on their reaction to a series of random events, but people get confused because it is viewed from the perspective of the individual people.

It is much, much more of a game than either of those other two things!

No I don't think it's just you, it definitely comes across at times as dark humour but you may have hit the nail on the head by people who have seen him in The Wire (and even The Hour to a lesser extent) seeing that smirk on his face and reading into it way more than it's meant to.

The setup for the first interview was great, she's presuming that there's some numpty in there too confused to understand why he has been busted for shoplifting etc and the expression on her face when the policewoman opens up with "So Fred, why did you kill your daughter?"

Seeing the pictures they have recreated was a shock to the system, anyone old enough at the time to remember the grinning Fred pictures in the papers surely will be amazed at how drat close West has come to looking just like him especially the first picture they showed of Fred and Rose together. In fact, thinking about it, surname West as well...

I was optimistic at first that the 'hiatus' would be exactly that, however in retrospect that was probably just their tactful way of ending the podcasts forever. Which is a shame.

In today's world of iplayers and DVR, there isn't one show I love enough to change plans around at the moment. BSG was probably the only one I made any serious effort to watch the same night as it was on.

I'm glad you guys have that show. I did see some of the battenberg episode (I assume this is the right show?), couldn't get hooked on the premise of 14 people all making the same thing with the same stuff though.

Someone already mentioned that non-technical rounds let the participants do different things, but I just had to say that I really liked the battenberg round because of how objective it made the competition. You could absolutely see why the best ones were best, no wishy-washy judging!
