So, the latest Joe Rogan podcast released today has Daniel Pinchbeck as a guest. I thought that name sounded familiar so I decided to wiki him.Wikipedia posted:Daniel Pinchbeck (born June 15, 1966) is an author living in New York’s East Village, where he is editorial director of Reality Sandwich, a blog website centered around New Age philosophy and activism.[1] He is the author of Breaking Open the Head: A Psychedelic Journey into the Heart of Contemporary Shamanism and 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl. Yeah, I think I'll be skipping this one...

Rogan wasn't far off with the homophobia either. Don't leave him out of it. Redban is a manchild of the worst kind. Listen to the latest Piecast with Little Esther. He comes off so creepy with his manchild laughter.

For whoever was talking about Marc Maron's lack of black comedians and his talking about it check out the Thursday ep this week, there's a pretty good conversation on he subject.

There's no doubt that Joe Rogan is complicit in the homophobia, but his core opinion seemed to be that it's uncomfortable to see two straight guys kiss. I don't think that's nearly as bad considering all he could do was respond to Redban's ridiculousness comments having not seen the movie. I also love how that discussion lead to Redban throwing Kevin Smith's new movie under the bus to prove a point. This is directly after after he did a 4 hour podcast with them. Five minutes later, there's also the Vimeo discussion which is equally uncomfortable.

Katt Williams being a guest on WTF would be interesting just for the part where Maron asks him about the breaking and entering charge.

Joe says Rotten Tomatoes is always correct for him and that I Love You Phillip Morris, with a 71%, can't be as bad as Brian is saying. Then he checks Boondock Saints, 17%, and says it's always right. Brian then tells him to type in Red State, knowing that it got a bad rating and knowing that Joe said he loved it on the last podcast with Kevin Smith. Joe stops him and basically says "Don't be a douche...don't be a douche...think about what you're doing..."

How is Rogan a homophobe for not wanting to watch two dudes make out? I lived with a gay guy for 2 years and I didn't care to see it, even holding no hatred for gays. You can both accept gays but not want to see a dude make out with a dude. That's why I'm not gay, because it's gross to me. Thinking something is gross doesn't equal you are a homophobe. Reacting out of fear and hatred is being a homophobe.

It's more that there were several times during Redban's rant about the movie that I was surprised Joe didn't say anything. In retrospect that definitely doesn't make him a homophobe, but it was just a weird conversation. You're right though.

No, I totally agree that Rogan said some iffy poo poo, but it was a lot more benign than Brian going loving crazy over it. In particular the "I pretended to be asleep so my girlfriend didn't think I was gay!" was bizarre. As connected to the porn business as he claims to be you'd think he'd be more tolerant. I thought the movie was great, and I'm generally not even a fan of Jim Carrey.

Whoever mentioned Superego in this thread, thanks! Hilarious stuff, and even when it's not at the peak of comedy it is still some impressive skill from those guys. The Father Aldini from Ep 3:4 is probably the funniest four minutes I have ever heard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VZQf4wv0Wk Animation kinda...makes it less funny somehow, but still hilarious.

I think the podcast where they said it was the wolf den, his departure is also the reason Jeff has been doing his podcast out of his home. I've been piss tested for literally every job I've ever had.

I didn't think the latest Rogan with Daniel Pinchbeck was that bad. He didn't get too new agey and it was just a lot of back and forth between him and Joe about how the world at this point is pretty hosed and unsustainable. I particularly liked how Pinchbeck didn't interest Redban, so for most of the show he didn't say anything. However, when he did speak it was utter trash and Joe seemed pretty embarrassed by what he was saying.

LesterGroans posted:Man, I found all three of the Bumbershoot DLMs to be hilarious and most of the time the guests worked extremely well together(meaning some slid back and the cream rose to the top). You're right that Eugene Mirman and--obviously--PFT ruled that one, almost matched by Kyle Kinane and Anthony Jeselnik in the one before. Kinane and Jeselnik were pretty funny, but I thought Metzger and Jordan were just flat-out trying too hard to match Doug's stoner comedian persona. I love DLM when he's balanced by fairly lucid comics (like PFT), but I guess I just don't have much patience for more than one "I'm so wasted"-type comic on the same stage.

I laughed my rear end off at Redban in the latest podcast and I normally can't stand his mush-mouthed nonsense. I couldn't stand Joe or the Pinchin(?) dude's nonsense, and having someone interject with even stupider poo poo while Joe got mad and the guest got uncomfortable cracked me the gently caress up. I don't dislike Redban as much as most people here apparently, but that was like a perfect storm of stupidity that I found hilarious. edit: Just to say I normally love the podcast, but that one was awesome in a terrible way. I think it depends on the venue, but I like to get there ~45 minutes before they say doors open and they start seating people. The last time I went to one we got there less than 45 minutes before they opened and we were in the first 20 people in line. Another time we got there an hour before and were towards the end, so it's a crap-shoot really.

For those of us who have been awaiting the return of Red Bar Radio - i.e., like me and two other people - it looks like we're inching closer and closer. Mike's put up a new site (same design) at http://redbarradio.net, and has changed his Facebook profile picture, as well as the UStream "off air" picture, to a new logo. I fully expect the first show to start with "yep, I took comedy club money and bought drugs with it, DEAL WITH IT, gently caress you Kyle Lane." And I will love it.
