iron chic posted:Any recommendations for sad pop punk ala Jawbreaker or Osker? I've been listening to a lot due to the weather! Not quite pop punk, but The Pine is absolutely in the vein of Jawbreaker. Especially stuff like Face Down, All of Unfun, Demo #1, etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-MPk2H0w6w On the reverse side of Jawbreaker's stuff. More in the style of a lot of 24 hour revenge therapy is Mineral. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kemG3rUXKI There are also similarly named, similarly sounding contemporaries of jawbreaker; Jawbox http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=troJNJ1ldy8 vv Hope that helps some. For what its worth listening to jawbreaker is amazing and everyone should all the time.

I found a copy of Crude-Attitude the other day at Beautiful World Syndicate(pretty good south philly record store). Its an awesome album, although the cover art is pretty goofy. I also found immortality there a couple of months ago. Crude is a good band but I wish it wasn't so easy to find their stuff compared to all the better Japanese hardcore bands.

Thought this might be of interest to Canadian and Australian goonpunks http://exclaim.ca/News/propagandhi_face_threats_from_australian_white_nationalists The Australian chapter of Stormfront has threatened to cause problems for Canadian punk band Propaghandi should they honor their Australian tour dates. The statement from Stormfront is retardedly silly.

I dunno, Crude are pretty much top-tier as far as Japanese HC stuff goes. "Attitude" is regarded as a modern classic already by a lot of people. I guess the ease of availability with their stuff is cause they toured the US so some labels like Feral Ward did US pressings of their albums.

Just found out that RVIVR is going to play the Friday before Riot Fest East in Philly. I think that's my weekend spoken for unless one of the bigger bands is doing some sort of secret show. So stoked.

So I won a Punknews contest that included a copy of Polar Bear Club's new LP, and I got it in the mail today. It's signed, which is really cool, I just wish I liked the band more. They're still pretty good though.

My friend's band opened up for the Cute Lepers saturday night and it was probably one of the best shows I been to in a while. The singer Steve E. Nix is the nicest most gracious guy ever. After the show he gave me a mini guitar lesson on the side of the stage with a portable mini guitar amp and taught me the proper way to play one of the songs I couldn't find tabs for online. Also just got home from seeing Dan Andriano solo show. Place was packed for a scuzzy punk club but he did a few Alkaline Trio songs and was cool enough to give me a few guitar picks and chat with me after. All in all a great weekend.

No mention of The Men yet? Leave Home is amazing. Sure it's full of noise, drone, and shoegaze elements but at it's core it's a amazing hardcore album. Dropkick Murphys was incredible. Mike came out to do Barroom Hero and Shipping Up to Boston, and holy gently caress the place exploded. Would've been better, though, if A) they had played more stuff pre-Warrior's Code (seriously, they did maybe...four songs from Blackout and earlier) and B) security hadn't sucked seven kinds of poo poo. When the band keeps stopping between songs to tell you to lighten up, you're being dickheads. I saw a guy get chokeslammed for crowdsurfing during Stiff Little Fingers. It was ridiculous.
