Is it considered :filez: to post a link to a nonstop mixset that isn't label-authorized?

I am working on a mixset for personal use and to share with friends, and I'd love to share it here as well, but it consists of a mix of Beatport purchases, iTunes purchases and the like. No more than 2 minutes of any track unmixed, but still...

Thought it better I ask. Doing fancy cover art, split tracks, the whole nine yards.

e: also, I am a huge, huge Hospital sound addict, and while digging through my unsorted pile of music I need to listen to, I found this gem. It's tacked onto the end of an electro-pop album by japanese hip-hop duo m-flo (and available nowhere else), so I suspect most people into the Hospital sound probably don't know it exists. It's my secret weapon.

m-flo - Love Story feat. Bonnie Pink (Danny Byrd Remix)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88IXhu0-dwU&hd=1

Obviously if you're one of the people who loathes the Hospital sound / pop-DnB you should not click that link. I like it both ways

http://soundcloud.com/djsr388/sr388-i-got-fired-today-live

I did this Liquid mix in May for DNBTV.com (Late Night Bass)

My buddy who runs the show then proceeded to have Capital J and Random Movement and a bunch of crazy big names on the show a few weeks after me. Glad I was up first.

The only problem is that I nabbed some tracks from Soundcloud, and one came with no tags or artist name, just "Something liquid.mp3"

Man I wish I knew who it was. I looked for days on end.

Hope y'all enjoy it despite no tracklist.

Alright so Nero nowadays are classed as commercial dubstep or what-the-gently caress-ever new genre has been spawned overnight, but back in the day (2008, haha) they had some pretty loving awesome dnb tunes. Guess what? They've included one of them on the deluxe edition of their debut album :)

Can we get some Nero discussion going? I've been a fan for roughly 3 years now, it's great to see them finally getting recognition, even if it is in the UK charts...

I still like Nero. They have definitely crossed the border into dubstep and electro, but I kind of like both of those too. Not as much as drum and bass, but I can still listen to it. As long as it isn't lovely Skrillex, it is fine. These guys started out small and worked their way up so I respect them.

In case you didn't know, their track New Life also ended up on the deluxe edition, and the final track on the album is pretty much drumstep too.

Nero is awesome and I agree that a few years ago, they were making some really fantastic dnb tunes. They're following a similar path Chase & Status used in their climb to fame.

Nero have been touring with the Identity US Tour this year, with their first stop being right here in my city, Indianapolis. Unfortunately, I missed their entire set because I was asked to headline the local talent stage at the exact same time.

Not Drum & Bass. Klute's always released an even amount of dnb and non-dnb, but this is a great chill-out track, nonetheless.

Saviour, on the other hand, is a fantastic track with a proper balance of atmospheric and chopped amens.

On the level as Saviour, I'd recommend Alaska/Paradox for more of the same kind of sound:

Yep. Massive drop on that one.

Ever hear of Good Looking Records? It's a classic DnB Record label run by the king of atmospheric, feel-good DnB: LTJ Bukem. It can be difficult finding a lot of these tracks since LTJ's never really done much in terms of making the catalog available digitally and their website has been "under construction" or sometimes even unavailable for years now.

Regardless, if you get a chance to grab up any GLR tunes (digital, CD, or wax), do it.

Artemis - Elysian Fields

Quadrant - Only Mortal

The Artemis track is much more chill than the Quadrant track, which is pretty drat energetic and much easier to speed to while driving.

Yeah this one is fairly close. Would like it if it was hybridized with "the sound" of the next song:

Dave Wallace - State Of Mind

This one is really nice, but a bit too.. relaxed? I'd define this as a "positive chill-out". Doesn't seem to have much energy behind it.

I've grouped these together as what I've got to say is very similar between them all. They all seem to be lacking "upswings" (drops :haw:) that you have in Science of fear at )0:35 and 1:25. Again, kinda lacking in the energy (beat/tempo?) that I'm looking for.

I've seen him around 14 times live since 2002. I love seeing him live, though he is my favorite musician so I am biased for sure.

It sounds like MC Conrad is not with him in the US this time around due to visa issues. I'm not sure if there's another MC coming with him or not. I would probably prefer him to play with no MC over having a substitute (unless Deeizm made a surprise run-in), but I'm sure it will be great no matter what.

Check out Calyx & Teebee for sure. Calyx is probably my favourite d&b artist ever and imo set the standard for dark techy dnb with super-processed basslines. Teebee is a great producer too but I'm not as familiar with his solo tracks, he's more understated and funky than Calyx. When they get together magic happens.

Here are some of my favourite Calyx / Calyx & Teebee tracks, in rough chronological order
Calyx - Tearing Us Apart
Calyx ft. IllSkillz - Thru Your Eyes
Calyx - Get Myself to You
Calyx & Teebee - Follow the Leader
Calyx & Teebee - Warrior
Calyx & Teebee ft. MC Verse - Dual Processed

The last 2 are off their 2007 album, Anatomy, which has some absolute killer tracks and some that are admittedly skippable even for a huge fanboy like myself.
They're working on another album, there are some mixcuts on youtube and even those sound ridiculously good, I can't wait.

Some other tracks & artists you might like:
The Qemists - Stompbox (Spor Remix). Spor has a lot of great tunes, especially from his Supernova EP onwards. He did start getting quite sameish after a few years and now makes house under the name Feed Me. Not sure he's doing dnb at all any more?

Apex - Nowhere to Run. Apex also has a lot of killer tunes, he gets a lot of respect but still an underrated artist imo.

Phace - Alive, Hyzer, Cold Champagne

Phace & Noisia - Thrillseekers, Program

Check out Noisia. I don't even know where to start with them, so many incredible tracks over the years so I'll just list a few:
Block Control, The Tide, Crank, Creep Out w/ The Upbeats, Falling Through w/ Spor. That's just barely scratching the surface, they have a huge catalog of amazing tunes.

Anatomy is gritty/dirty as gently caress. If you're looking for darker drum & bass, that's an album you absolutely need to pick up.

As is Evol Intent's Era Of Diversion. That whole album is just, for lack of a better term, bleak. There's very few times where it lets up from being dirty and intense.

Evol Intent - 8 Bit Bitch [Spor Remix]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNp7VVlL8zM

Evol Intent ft. Ewun - Reality Check
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4FidTnMBQw

Evol Intent - Mutiny
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJsknKWtYfw

That album's not all d&b. There are also elements of glitch, IDM, and other genres in there. But it's all pretty dark. Definitely an album to listen to while driving through a seedy underworld-ish neighborhood of your city.

Also check out all of Dieselboy's compilation albums and Black Sun Empire's Cruel & Unusual and Driving Insane. BSE has shifted to doing more dubstep stuff now, but back in the day, they used to produce some really nasty tunes.

I dunno how many of you listen to Xilent, but you need to start. He has done a handful of popular dubstep remixes as of late, and that is all fine and dandy - he is one of my favorite producers of dubstep on the scene right now - but we are here to talk his drum and bass.

He released the Choose Me EP a while back, with a couple killer DNB tunes on it. My favorite one was actually at 116 BPM, which is pretty unique I think. His sound is somewhere near neurofunk, but even that doesn't describe it well enough.

His latest dnb release just came out this week and I absolutely love it.
"Evolutions Per Minute" - Xilent
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BIpFUc3m-Q
This track blows me away. He throws so many sounds into one track and makes it sound perfect coming out.

"Tenkai" - Xilent

This is the B-side, but it is really just as great as EPM. This track is a little more similar sounding to his stuff on the Choose Me EP. All in all, this is one of my favorite releases this year, easily.
