They get more folky/indie with each subsequent release (but still with a tint of post-hardcore). I'll list some favorite songs from each so you can get an idea of what each album is like. Can't go wrong with Operation Phoenix by Good Riddance. Sure it's about the first Gulf War but since we did it again it still applies. Melodic and still pist Former Thieves and Over My Dead Body has some kick rear end political songs in a similar HC vein

New Sick Of It All album coming in a month. It's all re-recording their old tunes. "Built to Last" re-recording makes me happy. I can't loving wait to hear "Locomotive".

Edit: vvvvv Holy crap I'm dumb. Sick of it All really needs to tour the US again. Also, I didn't even realize that Anchor has a new album out. Hopefully some US label will press the vinyl so I don't have to import it. Here's a few songs off it: http://xanchorx.bandcamp.com/releases Kalit fucked around with this message at 01:17 on Sep 28, 2011 |

Am I making this up, or did someone from the Hex Dispensers post in here a while ago? Cuz, dude: I just picked up the Sister Series 7" and the One Less Ghost single yesterday and you guys are just getting better and better. Side note: I think I'm just gonna start picking up any singles with the Trouble in Mind Records sleeve, because they're almost always awesome. I also grabbed a Jeffrey Novak EP yesterday, and I've gotta go back and pick up the 4-way covers split with White Wires because I'm an idiot and didn't get it when I was there. I guess that's more garage than punk, but whatever y'all.

New Star loving Hipsters is streaming at Punknews. It's really loving good. Lots of ska stuff, it's pretty obvious that most of it was written when it was still going to be a collaboration with the Slackers.

I thought there was no way they wouldn't gently caress that up. Overall, I really like the album a lot more than the last one. But that just might be because I know Mikey Erg is on it. Only nitpicky thing I may have is, I don't think I like the new girl as much as Nico. And originally I didn't like Nico at all.

How can a band go from "O, porcupine" to Emmett Otter's Country Jamboree? I don't know, maybe I'd be put off less if it were a sideproject or something, it just seems an odd evolution. That said, January 1979 continues to be one of my favourite songs. Going back to La Dispute, I honestly wasn't that into their first album, I'm really enjoying Wildlife though.

I strongly dis-recommend the new Misfits album to everyone. I mean, Jerry Only sucks at writing songs, and he sucks at singing, so I'm not sure why I might have expected an album wherein he does a preponderance of both to not suck. The Devil's Rain performs a rare feat, being a record which both sucks and blows. It's painfully boring, everything blends together into an unmemorable, overlong, vaguely Misfits-y sounding pile of crap. This album will make you pine for the singing talents of Michale Graves. I would rather listen to the middle four tracks of Famous Monsters (previously, the worst poo poo the Misfits ever recorded) on loop for an hour than hear this record again. This album will make you want to kill yourself when you realize that the man responsible for it had a hand, however minor, in three of the greatest hardcore records of all time. I would rather listen to the loving Kryst The Conqueror record than hear this record again.
