Got a ticket to Luciano & Carl Craig on the 28th of October and registered for the thing on the 6th. Amon Tobin sounds fun too, I'll see if I can manage to go. Dubstep isn't really my thing but for 10$ I might consider it. I have been here only for a month and not been clubbing yet, what are decent places to go, how prevalent are drugs and what's the best source for event info?

Then someone on the clubs forum found some photos taken from the night before when he played in barcelona in an absolute loving state with the sun coming up, haha. This was news to the promoters. I have no idea what he is doing in Canada, I almost want to go just to see what would happen. Didn't he miss DEMF after boycotting the US for 7 years because he couldn't get his visa straight? Or was that last year... regardless dude is totally nuts. He might just not show... unless Magda is making the tea. Can anyone comment on Luciano? I know he has a live EM this week, so that's kinda cool.

Off his facebook, some choice replies: http://www.facebook.com/deadmau5/posts/10150325109326806 "ok Moombathon is a fairly new genre which is like a mix of reggaeton beats with some dubsteppy in a nutshell" "moombahton is for fail DJ's who don't know how to get a party started" *plays 5 excision remixes in a row* "I tried to make minimal techno on ableton, got comments saying "nice moomba beat" so I think its just a really easy way to call yourself a musician." Anyway, tomorrow is jesse rose/billy the gent/cam jus at UHall, and justin martin/ardalan just got announced for a night in november

James Blake trashes dubstep's "frat-boy" aesthetic and the producers who are creating it: http://pitchfork.com/news/44141-echo-chamber-james-blake/ He didn't mention anyone by name, but Kill the Noise took it extremely personally and vented via Twitter: killthenoise: i'd love to go nose to nose with james blake about that pitchfork article, what a load of bullshit killthenoise: i love how people try to own a loving genre, this is 2012 you can stick your genre up your rear end. they don't exist anymore my man. killthenoise: everyone is entitled to their own opinion. but why do established artists feel its necessary to beat down other peoples art? killthenoise: anyway, love the dudes music, just kinda redic comment, maybe it was taken outta context who knows then Dillon Francis got involved: DILLONFRANCIS: i put my entire DICK in my music #testosteronestep Then Porter Robinson did too: PorterRobinson: @killthenoise the real pissing contest is amongst eye-rolling elitist hipsters. nice pitchfork masturbation session! PorterRobinson: @killthenoise i'm reminded of my old tweet: "this just in: dubstep founding fathers throw collective tantrum about their genre becoming fun"

Nagget posted:James Blake trashes dubstep's "frat-boy" aesthetic and the producers who are creating it: There were a few conversation on FB regarding this article and I think its a load of bullshit. First of all I think James Blake is extremely boring and overrated. Not saying hes a bad producer but people treat him like hes some sort of dubstep messiah. I think his EM was pretty bad, and seriously, mixing snoop dog and classical music and "post dubstep" does not make you deep and eclectic. It comes off as forced and extremely pretentious. This is all my opinion of course but if this guy came out and said he was trolling everybody I would not be surprised. People are eating this dudes poo poo up and I have no idea why. Am I just missing something, I don't get it. Also why would he publicly knock a huge group of artists so openly. I know people who got into dubstep through skrillex excision etc and now are into much more different EDM and are very involved in their local community. I know people who like the "bro step" but would have otherwise never listened to EDM. Its the same thing with deadmau5 and tiesto. The more exposure the better. I remember diplo once said something along the lines of "I don't care much for the mainstream dubstep but anything that gets kids into the music, and producing beats is ok by me, its through stuff like this that they start tinkering with music production and create the next thing" Personally I think the bro step is obnoxious and totally not my thing, but some of the artists have incredible production value, are amazing performers, and have tapped into a young audience that perviously knew edm as "that techno music u do e to and dance with glowsticks" Seriously if you love what you do and you're confident with yourself people will see that and follow... why do you have to openly make statements that say "gently caress all of you fakers Im the real poo poo trust me"
