For the most part, yes.

Think of Texture Mods as "layers" - I'd do something like this, for example:

- Install NMC Texture Pack as a base
- Install Poco Bueno or whatever that guy's name is over top, some overlap with NMC here of course
- Install a number of other replacers
- Install Detailed Normals
- Install Arenovalis' amazing retextures.

The ones you install last will have priority. If this setup looks good or not, I don't know - I'm still collecting mods for my final play through.

Also, holy poo poo Project Reality. I'm looking at all the "upcoming features" - why would you do this? All I want is a loving weather mod.

I don't know what is involved with porting over a weather mod, and maybe if someone more knowledgeable would point me in the right direction to do so, but Dynamic Weather was the best mod for Fallout 3 - simple, streamlined, and looked good as poo poo. I wish the author would make it for New Vegas.

Northeast of Goodsprings, up in the hills. You'll see a little group of trees and a beware of death claw sign.

I'm going to have to change that drat key it has been nothing but trouble for no apparent reason.

Textbook memory crash, you're probably running too many texture mods. If you're not running the NVSE patch that allows you to use up to 4 gigs of memory already, you definitely should start. It will cut down on those crashes a lot.

Try it anyway, it might help

http://nvse.silverlock.org/beta/fnv4gb_nvse.zip

If it doesn't though then I'd recommend disabling a few texture mods, memory crashes tend to only get worse as the savegame size increases. New Vegas vanilla is not really coded to utilize system resources all that well.

I've got FNV4GB installed and even with the NMC medium texture pack and a bunch of other mods it's very, very rare that Fallout uses more than 1.6gb of ram. I sometimes wonder if the 4GB thing is actually working. Apparantly stuff like Repopulated Wasteland and Populated Casinos (basically stuff that adds more NPCs) are a huge memory hog, though.

But apparently the key didn't work. :-(
Edit: Could you tell me the console entry for the key? I'll try spawning another.
Also, if there is a command in the console to trigger the next phase of the quest to trigger the map marker, I'll try that.

It isn't a quest. I tried to make it as compatible as possible. The key you pick up just triggers a quest that enables the map marker and adds the master key.

The key's ID is xx025E1B. If it doesn't work the best advice I can give is just hold off a little bit. The next update has more fixes, optimization, and additions than the past three versions combined. :/

On an anecdotal level I was getting a lot of crashes using huge textures before the 4gb enabler came out despite knowing how to resolve mod incompatibilities and I narrowed it down to the textures causing memory crashes. Once the NVSE team released a working 4gb enabler it definitely cut down on my number of crashes substantially, so much so that I rarely crash now. So it definitely works.

I've never actually watched how much RAM NV is utilizing at any particular time but it might not even matter when it comes to that program's function, it's possible that vanilla NV doesn't even handle sub-2 gig memory usage that well.

Same here for the NV4GB launcher. I think there's also some sort of memory leak because after playing for a few hours the game will just crash at random.

Still the game plays better than vanilla New Vegas launcher and it fixes whatever weird speckling artifacts I was seeing. No loving idea why though.

Don't install detailed normals over other texture packs. They're designed to look good with the default textures, and will likely look like poo poo with other textures.

Are my ESMs in the right order or should I load the item packs immediately after FalloutNV.esm?

And I've been checking mods off one-by-one trying to find out what causes me to crash about every 3-15 minutes. The only texture mods I have are Detailed Normals, Arenovalis' WRP, hi-res eyes, and whiter teeth.

I've tried with URWLNV off and it doesn't seem to affect the crashing.

The only conflicts I see in FNVEdit is amongst the DLC .esm's, other things I have disabled.

Good hunter, free us from this waking nightmare

I got to fiddling more with GRA and why I couldn't use the 12 gauge ammo it adds. A weapon from a mod, vanilla weapons too, no 12 gauge will take the new poo poo. I gave myself the 20 gauge lever action and some GRA specific ammo, and I could use it just fine. I DO use a mod that adds more ammo to the ammo lists, so I disabled it and tried the 20 gauge. Works fine. Renabled mod, 20 gauge still works.

Where should I start looking to fix this nonsense?

So thanks to the OWB tweaks allowing me to bring my friends over to the Sink, I finally caved in and moved all my poo poo to Big MT and now have made it my player home. However, one thing now bugs me: I can't keep my Mojave radio stations playing while there. Yeah, I know, it's nothing... but it irks me all the same. I'm thinking of throwing together a quick and sloppy quest to bring a satellite dish to the Sink and install it on the roof to be able to pick up the signals, but the question I have to ask first is how in the hell do you determine whether those stations will play in an area or not? I can't figure it out for the life of me.
