eithedog posted:I think those are nuuttipukkis, in celebration of St. Knut's Day. Young men got drunk and dressed up in all kinds of rags and masks, sometimes walking on stilts, and roamed from house to house demanding food and drinks. My dad told me that it was the scariest thing ever when he was a kid. Can't blame him.

cloudchamber posted:Out of focus doesn't equal unnerving. Not quite - your mind fills in the blanks. However, consider this example: it is blurry, and at least for me it's creepy as hell. I know that it's not death, that it's artistic vision of the photographer, but the old man reminds me of weird aliens from Dark City, of men in suits cruising with black volga, picking random people of streets, of when my grandfather was dying. There are memories that you don't quite remember, but your mind just makes connections. Liku posted:What's this from? This is of course Shirley Temple and apparently the movie is Baby, Take a Bow.

Anyone else run across this weird Prius ad while browsing youtube? I saw it and my immediate reaction was "Who thought this would make people want to by cars" People made out of people should be left to horror flicks/games http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tz50_1Y2pXU

When I saw it, I said, "What the gently caress, Salvador Dali is working for Toyota?" Between that and the "It's a car!" campaign for the Yaris, I am convinced that Toyota has completely lost its poo poo.

It's called "In the Hills, the Cities". I recommend it.

Film recommendation: The City of Lost Children. It's a French film with a twisted storyline (bad guy kidnaps children to steal their dreams + more) accompanied by stunningly beautiful and creepy visuals.
