I would love to find some more albums with Jazz-Funk (I think this is the genre). Until now I have listened to some compilations named Pulp Fusion, and heard songs like these: Pucho & His Latin Soul Brothers - Chitterlings Con Carne http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TIZ6whyb_U SOUL - Burning Spear http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UB0tzvS-790 If you can point me in the direction of some music alike, it would be great.

And if you enjoy the salsa stylings of the first track, try Willie Colón, Ray Barretto, Joe Bataan, Louie Ramirez, Bronx River Parkway, for examples. Karate Bastard posted:I'm intrigued. Yes, I did find that, but I couldn't find anything on there that made them seem like "the obvious answer" to Skrillex. So there's obviously something that I've missed.

Looking for recommendation for a much underrepresented genre, country. I really like Ryan Bingham, and I'm trying to find more stuff like him. I especially like the slightly grungey feel of his music.

A long time ago I heard a song (Youen Naru Kizuna no Hibiki) in some anime which I really enjoyed. I asked on some other forum for similiar songs like it, and was pointed towards Yann Tiersen for similar music. And for years now I've listened to every one of his songs and albums, but lately I'd like to hear more along the same vein if anyone would be so kind as to point me in the right direction. So, long story short, more french instrumental music?

None of these are terribly obscure, so apologies if you're already familiar: Uncle Tupelo was at the forefront of alt-country until a nasty split led to the formations of Wilco, which I'm sure you know and isn't exactly what you're looking for, and Son Volt, which should fit the bill. Definitely check out Drive-by Truckers; several members past and present have shared songwriting/lead vocals so they have a few different sounds that all make sense together. Far as older stuff, I'd start with Billy Joe Shaver.

I want to listen to more hip hop. I like this song by Deltron 3030 a lot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7_jbluF0qo I don't know much else about this genre, but I know I like that song. I like that it's about the future and that this album tells a story. I like the melody and that the song sounds really big. What else might I like?

If you like the music/production part, that's Dan "the Automator" Nakamura, who has a pretty good resume: I would suggest checking out the first Handsome Boy Modeling School album, the first Gorillaz album, and Kool Keith/Dr Octagon's Dr. Octagonecologyst, which is one of the more bizarre and amazing hip-hop records you will find. If it's more about the lyrics, Del has a number of albums, both solo and with the Hieroglyphics, the best of which I think are 3rd Eye Vision, No Need for Alarm, and Both Sides of the Brain. If it's content, there are plenty of nerdy backpacker hip-hop artists that drop Star Wars references, but none of them touch El-P. You might also check out an album he produced, Cannibal Ox's The Cold Vein, which is goddamn awesome.

Okay, this will sound really stupid, but I'm looking for something like a heavier version of DragonForce. Basically a death metal or grindcore band that's based pretty much entirely around overlong face-melting solos. Like a band that specializes in these sorts of insane, dissonant guitar solos: Cattle Decapitation - The Product Alive Repulsion - Maggots In Your Coffin Vader - Never Say My Name

I really need some more bands like the ones I'm head over heels for right now, they are: The Dutchess & The Duke, Neutral Milk Hotel, Frightened Rabbit, Joanna Newsom. What are some bands with the same kind of sound/epic songs with amazing lyrics, etc. I haven't had a new album sink its claws into me in awhile.

Labradford, Pan American, The Dead Texan, Loscil, Aix Em Klemm - having said that, I think Labradford / Aix Em Klemm would mostly suit your needs as they're definitely less optimistic than Stars of the Lid, slower than Fennesz, quieter than Tim Hecker. There's 1 Mile North (which I also recommend, if you're not offed by speech samples), but if anything I'd say the collaboration they did with Colophon & Wind Up Bird - Conduction, Convention, Radiation comes close as well.
