This is very likely a stupid question but I'll ask anyway: iPhone 4, JB at 4.3.3 with relevant SHSH's saved. If I update to 5.0, and decide I can't live without biteSMS, there should be nothing about the 5.0 update that prevents me using TinyUmbrella and returning to 4.3.3, correct? (I'm aware of the currently tethered 5.0 JB, but have no desire to run tethered. I'm also not an unlocker.)

SLight emergency, a friend has turned up and I need to restore their phone from 4.3.5 to 4.3.3 (iphone 4 GSM) I read the op and tinyumbrella has the needed blobs saved. I can't seem to find the actual 4.3.3 firmware to restore, the direct link to apple trickles at some inane download speed. The website in the op doesnt seem to have 4.3.3. I 'm working against the clock can anyone point me in the right direction? E: Also I am assuming that downgrading to 4.3.3 won't allow them to unlock the baseband again right? Once you update the baseband you can't go back right? Manac0r fucked around with this message at 20:39 on Oct 12, 2011 |

I'm tying to update to iOS5, but I seem to be having issues. So is everyone else, it seems, but mine is different. It may or may not be JB related, but I figured I'd ask here just in case. I have a 3GS running 4.3.3 jailbroken. I am using iTunes v10.5, and I did reboot after the update. I try to update iOS, it will try to backup, have an issue with the backup (-402653081, but couldn't find anything on google relating to this), and that I would loose my data. Whatever, I have all my important stuff synced with gmail, and I could live with reinstalling my apps. So I continue with the update, it'll think about it for a while, then give error 3194. Apple's error page just has generic troubleshooting stuff, and doesn't seem to indicate the actual issue. I tried rebooting the phone and trying again, same issue every time. Also worth noting is I lost about 3/4 of a gig according to iTunes (of what I dont know, but it used to read 1.25g now reads 2), and when I try to do anything with my phone that involves data, the phone acts like its out out of memory. What is wrong and how do I fix it? Edit: Figured maybe a jb app might be messing me up, and I would try to delete them and see what happens, but I can't even get cydia to launch. My phone is p much crippled, and I don't know what to do about it. gypsyshred fucked around with this message at 21:39 on Oct 12, 2011 |

If I'm trying to upgrade (and de-jailbreak) to iOS5, is there anything specifically I have to do in TinyUmbrella or anything? I've checked and unchecked the boxes, tried recovery mode, but every time Apple kicks it back saying the update failed or this device isn't compatible with this OS.

Has there been any documentation/speculation regarding whether Apple can enforce updates now that they can happen incrementally and over wifi? Apple being Apple I bet there is a way to do this since they tend to be so tyrannical about controlling things, the better question might be whether they will use it or not. Just thinking that it might be possible for them to force out a minor update that could potentially plug any avenues to jailbreak. Maybe they would not even let users know that it had happened

After some digging, my error (3194) relates to something Tiny Umbrella does. When I attempt the recommended fix (going to advance, remove set host to cydia on exit), it doesn't actually give me the option to update anything. According to the youtube walkthroughs, there should be an apply button, but I don't have one. What am I doing wrong?

I'm currently running a jail broken iPad 1 with 4.3.3. I'm pretty anal about backing up my shsh blobs with five saved to my computer, dropbox and emailed to myself between 4.2.1 and 4.3.5. I would like to get hold of a blob for 5.0, but so far both tiny umbrella and ishshit are coming up short. From past experience dating back to the original PSP it's always the first releases of new firmware which have the greatest potential for jail breaking so I would like to give myself some future insurance if I do decide to upgrade to 5.0 and Apple have already released new versions. tldr: shsh blobs for 5.0 GM - how?

I read the OP and skimmed the last few pages and didn't see an answer to this, so I'm going to ask for some advice here. I have an iPhone 3G running iOS 4.2.1. It was jailbroken using redsn0w and I updated the baseband to 06.15. The phone bits work just fine (the GPS is broke but I understood that was likely when I did it.) The problem is the phone is extremely sluggish now. Running 3D games is a pipe dream, and even 2D apps like Bejeweled or Tiny Tower chug occasionally. Is this normal? If not, can I do anything to fix it? I did not activate multi-tasking or background wallpaper, I did the minimum modification I could to unlock the phone.

A co-worker gave me an iPod and asked if I could help them fix it. I've never jail broken any Apple devices before so here I am asking for help. Apparently their son decided to try and jail break it but failed and now the only thing the iPod does is show the apple logo and the spinner over top of it. I glanced over the FAQs in the op but iTunes doesn't seem to recognize the iPod, actually Windows doesn't recognize it either so I can't perform a restore. What is my next step? Edit: gently caress, nevermind, apparently I just didn't know how to turn it off (sleep + home). I turned it off, held the power button, plugged in the usb and now iTunes and Windows sees it. I should be able to figure it out from here. IT Guy fucked around with this message at 13:32 on Oct 13, 2011 |

LockInfo mail previews crashing were due to iOS not including the non retina display images. Been working with the dev (Dave Ashman) for the last like 3 hours tracking that down. Assuming there will be a fix for it later tonight.

He did respond saying that there will be a new built later tonight that will fix mail previews. I know it's a pain in the rear end, but it still works if you use preview in mail app. Unrelated.... Think I just found a security bug related to LockInfo. If you have a passcode and it is locked, meaning you try to unlock it and it asks for the passcode, double tap the home key to bring up the camera icon. Tap it to bring up the camera, and then hit the home key. Instead of dropping you back out to the lock screen/keypass entry, it takes you home. It only does this if you have mail and after you've put in your passcode the first time (when it asks you).
