I'll ask here since no one in the iPhone thread knew: I didn't realize that switching over from Mobile Me to iCloud would not carry over Notes synching anymore and I have a bunch of notes on my iPhone 4 that I really need on my 4S (it didn't carry over because my 4S is a new phone line). Where in OS X can I find the Notes in my 4's backup so I can replace the Notes in my 4S?

i posted here over the weekend saying i'd fried my old bootrom 3gs with the ios5 update. i'm back running a 4.3.3 backup from 3 months ago, luckily it has most of the data i was concerned about. so it's looking like if i want to go to ios5 i'm not going to be able to restore the data from my 4.3.3 install, and i'll have to migrate the important stuff manually. i can use datadeposit to back up my apps, but is there a simple way to backup and restore my contacts? i'm set up with my google account but it seems only new contacts get stored there, i don't know how to copy all of them. i don't really mind losing saved txt msgs but phone numbers are really important e: wooo i asked itunes to sync all contacts with my google account and it looks like it uploaded all of them from my phone. badass mewse fucked around with this message at 16:52 on Oct 17, 2011 |

Those looking for a way to tether without Jailbreaking, another app snuck in SOCKS tethering as an easter egg: http://itunes.apple.com/app/id336009164 It's been up for 3 days now without Apple pulling it. Join your devices together on the same network and use the iPhone on port 8888 for the SOCKS proxy.

You're sharing your 3G connection with web-browsers only. Don't expect anything "Internet" related to work unless it is SOCKS compatible. Instructions if you have the "PayUpSucker" app: 1) Create an ad-hoc network on your Computer. 2) Join your iPhone to the ad-hoc network. 3) Give your iPhone a static IP such as 10.0.0.1/255.0.0.0. 4) Give your Computer a static IP such as 10.0.0.2/255.0.0.0. 5) Set your Computer to use SOCKS proxy on the iPhone (10.0.0.1, port 8888). 6) Launch PayUpSucker, tap "IOU", and write "Its my data" (exactly that, without quotes). You should then be able to load your web browser. The app must remain open and running (it will keep the screen on). Backgrounding the app or turning off the screen will break the connection. You have to manually close and re-open the app (and repeat step 6) to get the SOCKS proxy running again.

Do you think when the iOS 5 untethered jailbreak is out the iPhone 4S will at least have a tethered jailbreak? I'm thinking about updating my iPhone 4 to iOS 5 tethered jailbreak from 4.3.3 untethered jailbreak till the 4S is jailbroken and I"ll sell my iPhone 4 then.

Though it probably won't preserve your baseband which means you can't unlock if you go from 4.3.3 > 5.0 > 4.3.3

If you can wait on selling it, I'd be willing to bet money that iOS5 will be unteathered jailbroken and an unlock will follow shortly after. That'll be your best bang for your buck, assuming you can wait. Though when I sold my 3Gs's someone outright bought my 4.0 3Gs for the same price I sold my unlocked 3.x because they knew in the future they'd be able to unlock it, so YMMV

The only JB stuff I have are the GV Extensions, BBSettings, and DataDeposit. Well managed to trace what was locking up Mail (even after reboots). It was BBSettings of all thing. Uninstalling it seem to have sorted out all issues I was having. So it looks like the dev still have some bugs to iron out. EDIT: Nevermind, poo poo's still hosed. The timer seems to lag and be slow at times when redsn0w does the counting. I got it into DFU mode twice when I jailbroke it but now I can't seem to do it. Finally had a chance to jailbreak 5.0 (iphone4), and I was running into the similar DFU-mode trouble. Following the redsn0w instructions wouldn't work, so instead I would just hold power+sleep to turn off (no slide), then letting go of sleep while the phone was booting, and it would kick it into DFU every time. Oh BiteSMS and Five Icon Dock, how I've missed you.
