Did you buy it outright or get some sort of upgrade? How did you get an upgrade with that much time left on your contract? If you bought it outright, your contract never changed, if not they should change it back for you though. Also, I would stab someone in the face to get .9Mbps on my phone. I get .3 when I'm lucky, a lot of times >.1.

Also .1 Mbps is pathetic. Whereabouts are you?

Are your speeds slower than your previous phone? Some people are complaining about the iPhone being slower than android phones which is more than likely a bug that will be fixed. Also to the guy asking about upgrading to the $99 Evo 3D on Amazon, usually those deals are for new customers only.

There's a huge thread on Sprint's forums with people who moved from other phones to wind up with much, much slower speeds on their new iPhone. I'm encountering the same thing--consistently slower than my Optimus S was (which is pretty sad.) And not just a little slower either, like, a tenth the speed.

If you return the phone within the return period it's like you never had it. I'm in Portland. It's terrible. I'm strongly considering changing carriers, but $50/mo is so hard to let go of.

Android people would love sprint Ok, few things: I haven't heard anything about iPhone speeds bring different, buy I am sure its a possibility. If its iPhone only, that should mean that a software update will fix it. Should is emphasized, who knows what apple has planned. Sprint 3g is slower than other carriers in general. The network is getting overloaded, that's what network vision is supposed to fix. In a nutshell the problem is 4g is supposed to help offset data usage, but since it sucks the result is more people using exclusively 3g. Return policy is 14 days, and after 3 you have a restock fee.

Since you'd probably know, Duckman, if I take it back to a Sprint store (bought it at sprint.com), will my contract be immediately rolled back, so I could then wander into a Best Buy and switch to Verizon, or is there a waiting period? Hate to ask you since it's...your company...but the speeds and coverage have just been getting worse and worse since I signed up with Sprint 2 years ago, and I need coverage for when I travel. Shoulda thought ahead before upgrading my phone, but I thought it might have just been an Android phone issue.

Called to whine about my continuing network issues and spoke to a very nice fellow in T2 tech support, Joe, I think, for roughly an hour and a half. Looks like there might be a network issue with the tower closest to my house. We're supposed to have "the best" level of coverage offered period at my address, but I never get above about two bars, dropped calls, blocked calls, SMS issues the whole nine yards. It took me ten calls to get to my fiancee, who was at the house, to let her know I was taking our roommate to the ER last week. I'm glad I don't work in a call center, he said something along the lines of "Thanks for not yelling at me " I like turtles fucked around with this message at 04:01 on Oct 18, 2011 |

Seriously, I like sprint and don't mind working for them since they pay my bills and i feel its a good value for a lot of people, but I'm not going to personally take offense on things like that. Hell, I have the same policy in store, and actually get Verizon customers referring their sprint interested friends to me because I'm nice to them. Karma goes a long way. Seriously, no carrier in the USA is for everyone, hence why there are multiple carriers. It's very unlikely you'll get as lucky, but you might want to try web chat a few dozen times.

Just got the Sprint letter telling me I been going over 300 MBs on roaming. I have read stories online of Sprint just ending contracts with no warning so I turned my data roaming off on my phone. I should be ok now, right? I think my issue was downloading ROMs to my phone at work, and at work my phone jumps from back & forth from roaming to Sprint. No more ROMs since I have a iPhone now.

And technically sprint has to give you warning before cutting you off, and I think it's 3 months in a row that they start getting bitchy (or a shitton at once). Its a hard call because it does seem random, so safer is better.

So with all the hubbub about Sprint iPhone speeds I decided to let you know my results. I have ultra lovely coverage where I live in Delaware where my calls sometimes drop. Speeds in this area are about 0.2mbit/0.45 so yeah ultra lovely and I can upload faster than I can download. Amazing. My speeds in Ocean City, MD are much better. I only did one test but I got 1.64mbit/0.86 which is a world of difference. So I'm going to assume it just comes down to the network being overloaded. Sprint is not exactly big down here as it seems most people use Verizon. Can't over saturate a market where there aren't enough customers vv

Ugh, I called Sprint to complain about the iPhone speed thing and they didn't know anything about it. I'm consistently getting less than .3 mbps down (typically more like .1) and .09-.01 up. I know Sprint's 3g is always going to be slower than ATT/Verizon, but this is nuts. I really wanted to keep on Sprint but may just give up on it from here. What's the process if I do return within my 14 days? Call Sprint order support, mail back phone, get credited back to my account? If this is a known issue for Sprint and they actually get speeds back to their admittedly slow normal, I'd be perfectly happy to stick with it.

You call wherever you got the phone from: online/phone, corporate store, indirect, etc. Return policy is 14 days, with the iphone you will see a $35 restock fee, you will pay a prorated amount for time on Sprint, unsure if activation fee is waived or not (I think it might be considered the restock fee). You of course need to return phone, box and everything in it. Unknown if its a known issue or not, but Sprint 3G is getting hammered by data usage already (from Android phones) so it has slowed down a lot in a lot of areas. You could always cancel and then come back later.

And really there is no practical reason why it should be slower than ATT. In fact, 2 years ago in my town, Sprint's 1XRTT serivce (2.5G) was actually faster than ATT's 3G service because ATT is so over subscribed in this area. But as the number of smart phones have increased, Sprint's 3G service has taken a noticeable dip in speed. We have only had 3G here for about a year and it has gone from being 1Mbps+ consistently to less than 200Kbps on average. But ATT has taken even worse performance hits around here. Network Vision can't get here soon enough.
