He stated that Poles used to burn Jews in synagogues for entertainment at Easter; and that Poland is in denial about its role in the Holocaust. He used the racial slur "Polack" to describe immigrant Poles, arguing that "if England is not the land of milk and honey it appeared to them three or four years ago, then, frankly, they can clear off out of it".

There is almost nothing I would enjoy more than a night out with the Coren siblings and Sue Perkins. Giles is a twat but very very entertaining, his banter with Sue Perkins is top notch and the two of them just seem incredible fun to get hammered with. Victoria can take the piss out of Giles, be devastatingly intelligent/beautiful and beat the poo poo out of us all at poker. Fantastic.

I really hate panel games, and I wish the BBC would spend less on them and more on commissioning original comedy and stand up shows. I would keep HIGNFY however because it's been on since always, and I suppose QI does have some slight educational merit.

If anybody cares about industry news, Channel Television just got purchased by ITV plc. I have no idea how they held out this long, to be honest. I doubt it will make much difference, certainly not on-air, so this appears to be a business thing to move more costs in-house (ITV contract out compliance issues to Channel - remember the OFCOM fines story from a few years ago). So, UTV and STV North/South remain the last bastions of the old way of doing things - the type that gets old nerds all foamy at the mouth at the thought of losing all of their old logos and testcards and channel start-ups. I suppose it's different for the younger folk who won't give a poo poo, but for anyone 30+ this whole everything-going-generic-branding malarkey really did make quite a few people upset. But hey, this is business, and you have to move with the times.

I thought Giles Coren and Sue Perkins were phoning it in a bit (a lot) on that last thing they did (the Good Life thing, maybe they have done things since idk.) They seemed to just make alot of poo poo jokes and think that everything they said was some pithy, hilarious masterwork. Quite liked their previous food-eating japes though; as a greedy fucker myself I love the way Coren eats like an animal.

The closest thing I can think of to an American panel show would be the radio show Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me which has panelists answering questions about the week's news. It also has listener challenges with the opportunity to win an answering machine message done by the announcer, and a guest has to answer questions that fall well outside of the areas of expertise (one of the more recent episodes had Bill Clinton answering questions about My Little Pony).

Stacey Soloman was by far and away the funniest person at the recording, too. Tony Law was great and made me want to look up his stand-up. As is usual, though, they cut out an awful lot of poo poo. There was one segment in particular that involved Kelly and Fielding commentating on the fashion of the line-up of DJ's that was excruciatingly awkward to the point that Fielding eventually refused to join in and quipped that it wasn't making it to air anyway.

Just caught buzzcocks- it's always at it's best when stuff goes a bit wrong (or at least appears to) and I enjoy Fieldings weird. Don't really watch it anymore, but that was a funny episode, kept me laughing and killed 30 mins. Edit: definately think the show's on its arse at the moment, but I reckon if they got a good permanent host and maybe revamped some of the games it could be the highlight of the week for me like it used to.

And next week's got Count Bukules on it you cant cancel now! Actually really looking forward to The Fades tonight, last weeks episode totally changed my mind about it. I admit I was even crying a little bit at how desperate Paul's best mate was to bring him back, despite finding him so annoying in the first episode.

Ehhhh, NMTB isn't really the best format for Adam so I'm not too bothered if they cancel it before they air that episode (which they should)

On the Scotland tip, Burnistoun and Limmy are both hit and miss, but they're also both a lot better than that dire Mitchell and Webb one and when they're on form, they are very very good.

Good suggestions, guys, I've seen burnistoun and Limmy's show, they're both great, but I've only seen one or two episodes of both. I don't get the hate for Mitchell and Webb look, but it strikes a particular chord with me, I certainly laugh more at it than my friends. Watched about half of that panorama special but got too depressed to carry on and decided to watch some It's always sunny in philadelphia. The child begging thing happens all over the world, was reading an article on Chinasmack before about how tens of thousands of kids are kidnapped and sold into slavery begging on the street every year. Edit: I agree, it is grim, wasn't trying to say "oh thats just the way it is quit moaning".
