Plus, lots of those great smaller fringe acts would get the axe. I wonder if they'll ever go back to 3 stages like they did in 2008. Anyway, I'm actually a bigger fan of the undercard on Saturday (The Magician, Paul Chambers, T.E.E.D., Goose, Japanese Popstars) but I'll be damned if I'm going to miss 2ManyDJs when they come through town!

This is not a new track, but I love it. I love it like I love my mother, like I love air, food, and sex. Excellent synth, buildup and drop, and I even love the vocals... .....and I hate vocals (as a general rule). In my day we would call this a "choon". Huh who would've thought a poll based upon a public vote would end up being a popularity contest and not a rank of actual skill and technique? To be fair, among most EDM listeners the terms DJ and producer are pretty much synonymous these days. Hell in the Deadmau5 interview-article thing Zimmerman straight up says that he doesn't know why he's on the poll since he doesn't DJ and hasn't touched a CDJ in his life. Nice to see the hard dance getting represented well though. Regardless of what you think of his productions (I think pretty much everything he's done since 2008 is horrible), Headhunterz coming in at 17 is an amazing achievement for the scene.

Honestly I have no idea who Headhunterz is or why he is on this poll. Who are half of these people? Screw the top 10 anyone could have predicted that... but who the gently caress is Psyko Punkz and Pete Tha Zouk? Kinda like how Boy George was on the poll last year. Also isn't it Alesso's first year? The power of marketing, people. Firaga fucked around with this message at 01:40 on Oct 21, 2011 |

Headhunterz is the most well known hardstyle DJ. Psyko Punkz is some average producers who made one big hardstyle track it seems, before that nobody cared.

That's kind of interesting. There is a lot of psytrance on the list as well. I guess it's kind of cool that its representing all genres but how relevant are these artists exactly? edit: just realized Im trying to make sense of djmags top100 list, oops I think alesso stands out to me the most, I think hes released like 4 remixes and an EP? I went to U st music hall last night to see Drop the Lime (live) and Japanese Popstars. My buddy and I agreed Drop the Lime was seriously rear end, quite disappointing. Live drummers are cool, but he was just jamming along to a backing track on guitar, doing what I'd describe as covers. I laughed when he dropped "Rock Around the Clock" with a dubstep breakdown. I was too demoralized to really stick around for Japanese Popstars. Seeing the Magician at U hall in a couple weeks. Anybody here listen to him? He has a ton of longish stuff on his soundcloud, which is always great: http://soundcloud.com/themagician/

Here are some sets from M_nus' Boiler Room Amsterdam takeover. Richie Hawtin's set is loving cool. I'm currently listening to Dubfire's. Ambivalent's should also be very good, more on the Techno side of things. Seth Troxler also played during BR, but his set isn't up. Hawtin and Dubfire always lay it down! I still regularly play Hawtin's WMC set, which if you haven't heard you really need to check out... Speaking of techno, I found out yesterday I'm opening for Subfractal in November. I'm really excited because I'll get a chance to play a lot of the more minimal groovy stuff to an eager crowd.

Lot's of people don't 'get' this type of music, as if they were expecting some "hands in the air" Guetta poo poo.
