To be fair though, I don't think any car would be survivable going that speed and hitting a immovable object such as that.

You could probably make a vehicle that could survive it, but the human body couldn't take that kind a decel. Your brain would be mush.

It looks like it runs on a internal combustion engine. But there are two motors. The little one starts the larger one. They both appear to be single cylinder (hence the huge flywheel). That's all that I can pull from watching the video. It looks like it might also be diesel? :iiam:

A single John Deere hit and miss engine is used to start what sound like a gigantic vertical hit and miss engine. I doubt it is diesel given it doesn't smoke much and still sound hit-and-miss.

Not sure what stability control would have done for an idiot getting way too hot into a turn and understeering straight into a guardrail.

I'm not sure how many of you will be able to watch this but I'm sure Australians can and should.

It's the third episode in a documentary series about cars in Australia. Called "Wide Open Road".

http://www.abc.net.au/tv/wideopenroad/episodes/

Synopsis posted:

Throughout the 20th Century the car has been tangled up in the social, political and economic fabric of Australia. It conquered the interior, shaped the design of our cities, was the basis of our manufacturing industry for many years, and created some of our best-loved heroes. The car is embedded in our culture and our psyche: lets face it, Australians are just a bunch of rev heads.

Even better, ANY drivetrain/powertrain parts were to be destroyed, not even sold as parts.

Everything else had to be sold as spare parts within 180 days before they had to be destroyed too.

Completely ridiculous.
