Wow, that idea didn't even hit me but it's a good one. For some reason I was thinking it looked more like an aged Tommy Vercetti but at this point in the timeline he'd look a lot older than that.

Alright I'm putting my foot down about people bitching about Rockstar using the same "criminal trying to leave past behind" character. Rockstar has never been original about that kinda junk, EVERY character in EVERY GTA game has been one of the following or a combination of the 3 character types: Criminal trying to leave past behind, criminal betrayed by gang and left in the cold and out for revenge or criminal wrestling with their leader to keep gang/group/whatever on a even keel.

Vice City Stories had you playing a good guy who gets unwillingly sucked into the criminal underworld. The game ends with you vowing to make one last deal and then get out of the criminal underworld forever, until you remember that you're playing Lance's brother who gets killed at the beginning of Vice City.

Tomym Vercetti was 100% criminal betrayed by gang and left in the cold and out for revenge. Were you not paying attention in VC?

Remember the crime he went to prison for? It was his own Mafia familiy trying to ambush him because they didn't trust him! He was supposed to have been killed then, instead he went to prison for 15 years (the mob paid people off so he didn't get executed). And then they try to blame Diaz's men's ambush on the drug deal in Vice City's opener on Tommy and eventually send mafia goons to Vice to try to take back "Sonny's money" which is totally Tommy's.

Hell Tommy got betrayed twice by his own gang really.

But there was a specific reason why he was sent down there, his Mafia family didn't trust him and he'd already outwitted their attempts to kill him once.

That wasn't the overall story. He was sent to Vice City to get a piece of the action for whatever family he was with then decided "gently caress you, I built this, it's mine".

The beginning of the game has the coke deal go bad, but once he kills the fat hispanic dude and takes his mansion that angle's done.

Dude. You know why they sent Vercetti to prison for 15 years? He killed all the attackers the Forellis had sent to ambush him because they didn't trust him.

He gets out of jail and they immediately send him the gently caress out of Liberty to do things for them in Vice, and then don't poo poo to help him when the deal goes bad. At the end of the game he straight up kills a ton of them too.

He got betrayed by the Forellis twice.

When the gently caress was this ever mentioned? And why would he go back to the Forellis if they ambushed him to begin with?

EDIT: Just read the plot on Wikipedia and you're right, sort of. Tommy didn't know he was set up by The Forellis until Sonny told him at the end. So Tommy couldn't be getting revenge for something he didn't know.

Also, I have no idea how I loving missed that when I played through. That was a good number of years ago now though.

I noticed that most of the license plates have orange year tags on them. Assuming this is California, which it basically is in all but name, that narrows down the possible past years to 1992, 1998, 2003 or 2008. By the cycle of colors, it appears that 2013 tags will also most likely be orange. That puts it at a late 2012/early 2013 setting... which was the most likely setting anyway, so that was all sort of a waste of time to figure out, wasn't it?

Well, I'm not saying it's a complete disaster, but...first, the graphics look pretty cartoony compared to IV's, and I think they are the same as in The Sims 3. Then I didn't like it being set in San Andreas (it's gonna be better if it's just LS) because that would mean a too big map like in GTA SA. There are also planes and other things that aren't really supposed to be in a GTA. So, who else is a bit disappointed by this trailer?
