Gave the new Market update a try. It still requires me to change my dpi back to a standard value in order to update certain apps, so that sucks. Other than that, it seems nice.

Recommend me an app that will track my bandwidth usage on a per-app basis. Somehow I've burned 65% of my monthly data today, and haven't even been texting. Received three emails and that's about it. Not looking for a widget-only app like Radioopt's "Traffic Monitor", just something I can open when I want to know what's what.

It's been a while since I've used it but I remember "3G Watch dog" doing something like this and being popular. What I'm not positive on is whether it monitors per app use.

If you have a rom that will run spare parts it does show data usage too. per app just like you said. spare parts- battery history then change to network usage view. edit: weird it doesn't show subsonic at all in there and I've streamed 100+ mb music today with subsonic. The paid version of 3G Watchdog does per-app monitoring, and the overall count is also more accurate than the free version (my experience, ATT, etc...). However, there is also My Data Manager, where even the free version tracks per-app use. It also seems relatively accurate, so you may want to give that a try.

Manky posted:Is there any way to change Opera Mobile's search engine string? Yes there is. Tap on the search bar, now there should be a little google logo with a down arrow in the left of the bar, tap on that to bring up a list. "Manage Search Engines" is an option down the bottom. You don't seem to be able to add new ones but you can edit existing ones. Alternatively, if you use opera on the desktop, I'm pretty sure you can sync search engines among other things. also poking around in about :config might find something too. Weirdly enough, this is not compatible with my device (Dell Streak 5 on stock rooted 2.2). I've run into things that didn't work right before (Steambirds was the most frustrating) but haven't been blocked from downloading them since I got 2.2. vv

I was going to suggest Radio Opt Traffic Monitor, but then I tried My Data Manager and I must say it is better, so thanks for that . I like that it only shows the biggest data users, not just a huge list of all your installed apps. MDM rounds down the figures a bit but life's too short to nitpick about kilobytes. It's a pity both apps only have 4x1 widgets, I would have liked a 1x1 one, meh.

Problem with WidgetLocker: I have CM7 set to disable the slider screen but use PIN for security. I have WidgetLocker serve as the lockscreen, but when I unlock WL, there's a brief second where it flashes whatever I have open on the phone (or the homescreen if no app is open) before it brings up the PIN entry. I don't like this for two reasons: 1) The delay means I have to wait a second before I can enter my code and 2) It gives anyone poking at my phone a second to see what's on the screen, which I don't like.

I really wish WidgetLocker would let you set a pin security code itself rather than just relying on the phone to do it.

Re: Fancy Widgets I got that email as well, it's uh, interesting. So folks probably remember that Anddoes had a falling out with Amazon shortly after Fancy Widget Pro was listed as a freebie. He ended up removing Fancy Widget Pro from both Amazon and the Market, but in the later case replaced it with "Fancy Widgets", for which you could download a separate, paid unlocker. At first, folks who "acquired" Fancy Widget Pro on Amazon were screwed. My understanding is that folks who actually paid (didn't get it on freebie day) were handled on a case-by-case basis by emailing him, but he didn't want to handle the potential 100k folks who got it on freebie day that way. A few months ago Amazon gave him a dump of order numbers, and since then folks with an Amazon purchase order (even on freebie day as I understand) could pick up Fancy Widgets from the Market and use it as an unlock code, and install it on up to ten devices (?). So, apparently, the new development is that Fancy Widgets is back on Amazon as a free app, but folks who puchased Fancy Widget Pro are still eligible for a full unlock. Even more interesting is that, somehow, that email went out. I'm not sure how his Amazon spat got resolved. But if you're actually looking to upgrade to Fancy Widgets I'd just get the Market version anyways since both can be unlocked and the Market one will get updates first.

I fail to see the benefit of getting anything from the Amazon Appstore if it's available in the Market at the same price. The only apps I've gotten from Amazon are their freebies of the day, otherwise I don't see the point. There's the potential for issues like this and I find apps are usually updated in the Market before Amazon.

So I finally got fed up with the shitacular Facebook app leaving GPS on even after I exit it. The app shits its pants if you deny it location via CM settings so I decided to give LBE a whirl. It's a drat nice app and does exactly what I want but I'm curious how it's so nice when its free. Is it open source?
