I'm hoping for Dick Strider, it would be just another dick joke made by Dave, and the surname Strider would make it even better. I wouldn't normally hope for dick jokes, but just because it's Dave's kid, it makes it cool.

Bro's gonna be a brony isn't he? And it'll probably be unironic, considering that's what it was hinted at Pre-scratch Bro was to puppets. Not sure why a Brony would need Kamina sunglasses and piles of lovely swords though. Ammat The Ankh fucked around with this message at 06:12 on Nov 16, 2011 |

Maybe Lil' Bro defaced the pages of that pony book like Hussie did that copy of Wizardology (a link to that would go to the Penny Arcade forums which seem to be down at the moment, and it's not that safe for work anyway).

The general fanon/headcanon/whatever that people have is that Bro was entirely unironic about puppets and anime shades and lovely JRPG swords, and that Dave just assumed he was being ironic about it (much like people assume Mom Lalonde was trying to be friendly with Rose). So people are assuming Bro in this universe will be explicitly unironic over his creepy fetishes.

Dave, and especially Rose, having to come to terms with the fact that they were imagining whole scenarios, and having to come to terms with the fact that their guardians were very different people than they are, would be lovely.

Does this mean that Maplehoof will ultimately be one half of the genetic makeup of this universe's Doc Scratch? I suppose that would make him... the White Knight. Hee hee, hoo hoo. kidBro's name will absolutely be Duke.

It's the conclusion that I came to in my own reading of the archives, before I ever read anything by anyone on any forums that suggested it. I was under the impression that there was plenty of hints at it, and also that in various chatlogs it had been suggested. Mom Lalonde had a drinking problem and tried to make up for it by spoiling her daughter, but instead it got thrown back into her face. Dad Egbert tried to bond with John over his supposed love of harlequins, but John actually had a phobia of them and things got worse. Bro Strider genuinely loved anime and swords, and funded the entire household through a puppet porn site, but Dave rejected the idea that his brother could be so lame and so he insisted that it was all ironic. Annnd.... I have no clue what the equivalent for Jade would be. So that breaks the pattern.

Yes, but it's still practically a direct reference to something that can be described as "that other thing Hussie did once", And people are usually pretty good at picking those up right away.

I remember the wizardology and began to suspect it when I saw "loving commentary", but with Bro it really could go either way. My guess is either in this universe Dave's the unironic one and it's Bro who's trying to 'ironically' enjoy ponies like his brother does, or Dave's still ironic (only about ponies, not puppets) and Bro claims to also only like them ironically, when in fact he actually does. The only outcome I don't expect is that both reset-Dave and reset-Bro are ironic or unironic. There's got to be some conflict to how you see the world in a Strider household.

SO the Gristwidgit looks like it'll be really useful in the medium, as does the recipe modus. The nominal purpose of the scratch IS to allow more favourable starting conditions for SBURB, and assuming the presence of Doc Scratch or the Condence, to further propagate Lord English human history's alteration certainly strives to make the players of this new session more likely to win. I guess using the Crocker company to produce useful tech is one way to do that.

If Dave talks to a completely sincere and unironic Bro his worldview would be shattered. He'd... he'd have to develop his own personality! Also, Lil' Bro will think Dave is completely sincere in his interests, and will try to be as enthusiastic and genuine about liking terrible things as he can, to measure up. Also also, Hussie is really good at writing characters who have terrible interests or bizarre flaws and making them really endearing and likable. I fully expect Bro to be as creepy and weird as we suspect, but still as awesome as we know.
