The video for High Contrast's new single "The First Note Is Silent" featuring Underworld & Tiesto just got released! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWOJyegyRbM His new album is set to drop on the 31st of this month. I had no idea it was coming out that soon until I read the description for the video.

High Contrast has never been the purest purist. Frankly, I'm happy to see two genres that nearly never touch having dirty, dirty sex - it's not my favorite DnB track, but it could potentially be an awesome fusion genre if people keep playing with the idea.

If you're on about trance and drum & bass, a lot of dnb producers have been incorporating elements of trance into their tunes for the past decade or so. Plus I've always thought a lot of mainstream dnb was just trance sped up a bit (Crazy World anyone?).

Yeah, I find the vocals way too cheesy for me on that track as well. Just found the new Camo & Krooked on Spotify and I'm loving this song. It's quite liquid-y, and I'm spamming the gently caress out of it currently. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_rq4jP9qb8

Wouldn't that be dubstep then? I thought drumstep was 170+, dubstep was 140-ish, and there is the occasional breakstep track around 135 to 145.

I've pretty much given up on Camo & Krooked at this point. Their first album was rushed and entirely forgettable, and though I've not listened to their new one fully, I'm getting much the same feeling from the bits I've heard. Of course it doesn't help that Colman et al would have been all over them to get an album released ASAP. Having said that if there's something on it akin to their release on Beta post it up and I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

Beatport is a bit inconsistent with tagging music genres, although initially I thought it was on the submitting labels to tag their music. Just this week: http://www.beatport.com/track/boxin-original-mix/2740593 Only reason I noticed is because I'm a fan of the 7even Recordings stuff.

Yeah, I have seen some odd ones thrown out there on Beatport. Multishapes by Xilent is at 116 BPM I think on there, but it also shows up as 116 when I open it in VirtualDJ so I have no clue.

My friend wanted to know if it was possible to take a 45 slice amen break, randomise the slices on the fly and embed into a webpage. So for want of a little 'few hours' project to see if it would work, I put it together. Silly and pointless http://crucialweb.net/amen/

chrix posted:Very nice tracklist, gonna give this a listen today. How are you feeling the new Shogun Way of the Warrior LP? Thanks! I dig the whole compilation. I think it's a really good representation of what Friction & K.Tee have been doing with the label over the years. Some of the stuff I'd probably never play out (Rockwell's tune), but are super good to listen to. The Icicle solo tune is cool listening material, but I don't know if I'd play that out either. Although, I'm not super familiar with The Prototypes, I was kind of surprised they didn't have a track on it. Contrasted with the 'Oblivion' compilation that Fierce just released, that comp is almost entirely stuff I would play out, but might not get listened to as much when just bumming around. So if a friend asked me for a dnb CD to get, just to listen, I'd push 'Way of the Warrior', but if a DJ friend said they needed some new stuff for their sets, I'd say 'Oblivion'.
