Conan is wrapping up work and then coming up at Christmas. I'm just far more organized than him and already got a new job and things to do. He's a lazy heathen who wants to live with a pool table and motorcycle.

Alright, so...this weekend I got some stuff done. Friday, I broke down the SV500, to swap the shock and the rear wheel over. The SV650 had a bad 525 chain and sprocket set on it, so I wanted to swap the front sprocket, and rear F3 wheel off the SV500 on to it. Everything went pretty smooth initially. Didn't find anything too out of the ordinary breaking down the SV500, just the usual cosmetic flaws from a 10 year old racebike. Turned my attentions to the SV650...the chain was intact so I didn't want to break it. Pulled the rear wheel, shock to swap over the Penske. Pulled the swingarm to get the new chain on. Rear axle was seized. No big deal, pounded it out with some penetrating oil and a hammer. Tried to pull the swingarm, realized that the exhaust would have to go if I wanted to remove it completely. So instead I just rotated it, got the chain in, installed the front sprocket, and...the 520 chain didn't fit over the 520 front sprocket. Pulled the front sprocket, checked it. Clearly stamped "520-15". Checked the 520 chain with the Vortex rear sprocket...fits fine. Checked the front sprocket on the 525 chain...fits perfect. Check it on the 520 chain...too much space. Compare it to the stock 525 and discover they're the same width. Apparently that front sprocket got stamped wrong at the factor or some poo poo. No idea. Took the rear wheel to the local dealership to pick up another sprocket and to get the tire swapped. 30 minutes after I drop it off, they call me to let me know that both rear wheel bearings are seized. Measure the wheel bearings, they're weird sizes. Debate over it for awhile, eventually drop Zoran a line at Twin Works Factory, and he hooks me up with the bearings I need for the swap. They should be here midweek. In the mean time, I also stripped the fairings off the bike, used some old tank spacers to move the battery box a bit so that the Penske fits. Gonna swap the triples and the GSX-R front from the race bike on to the SV650, part out the rest of the front end, then I need to install the cams, check the valves, change the plugs, install the flatslides, and sell the rest of the parts to fund a TIG welder. Because my SV was down, a friend of mine generously lent me his 06 R6 for the riding clinic I was instructing at this weekend. The ride up wasn't too bad, 70 miles on the 1/101 North, but by the end I was cursing my weak lower back and my wrists for hurting so drat much. Did the clinic, and took the much more scenic route home, Foxen Canyon. It was here that I had a bit of a revelation about 600s on the street. They're kinda like touring on a supermoto...fun because you're using the wrong bike for the job. Sure, the R6 is stupid fast, but it's also got pretty awesome, unflappable suspension, and I couldn't keep the grin off my face as I tore across destroyed pavement with the bike soaking it up under me, the green hills of CA to the left, the cold air blowing into my helmet but my gear keeping me nice and warm. There's something just utterly sublime about the short rips up through the rev range, with the front end skimming or lifting entirely over a crest at 80mph, or the bars dancing under you from lock to lock as the front gets light but none of it coming through to the chassis. Still just amazing as you bend it into a corner and I have a stupid grin thinking about it. The rest of the time the bike was utterly out of sorts, but at that moment, running up that road, I was reminded of everything I love about motorcycles, and why I ride. Good weekend. Here's the SV650 and the pile of parts that used to be the SV500: Gonna try and fabricate a mount for the headlights tonight, maybe. Then I need to clean up the wiring, shoot them flat black, and start fitting the Duc tail. Also need to get on listing the extra parts that haven't already been brodealed out.

But I haven't been getting poo poo done because of this: (Also being sick) But this weekend I should finish it, flat black the headlight mounts, and deal with the rat's nest of a wiring harness.

It's fun, definitely more shooting than the previous game, where I'd do nothing but be a dick with the knife and marathon pro. The new specialist/support options help you change up the killstreak stuff, and I've been enjoying playing it with friends. I rarely buy DLC unless it's for Forza 4 or something. The game is still early enough that there's no DLC to buy anyways. I say go for it, friend me on XBL - Z3n85 Edit: Oh yeah, this too: And 4 sets of safety glasses so I don't have to worry about misplacing them Weddings get you cool stuff Z3n fucked around with this message at 23:03 on Nov 18, 2011 |

Hope you're not even moderately into fantasy RPGs, because Skyrim may potentially wreck your life. I'm pretty sure if I had taps next to my gaming PC, I'd never leave for anything that didn't ensure those two devices remained available.
