Let's see if we can't get this back on picture chat after several pages of plain old boring chat! (Here's hoping this works. I can see them, and I *think* I've marked them public in Picasa/"Google Images". I miss waffleimages!) I've heard them called an "Iron Horse" before...but...really?

Kommando posted:one minute ten of intro, fifty seconds of explanation, forty five seconds of slow motion demonstration and forty seconds of outro. Have the short version: Staying on the throttle out of the corner until you're in the air will make the bike pitch forward slightly and set the bike up for landing, while hard acceleration right on the jump face will keep the front end high. Hitting the rear brake will drop the front, and gassing it will raise it unless your rotation is so heavy you're gonna crash anyways. If you didn't already know all this, try it on a tabletop next practice session, it's a pretty cool "A-ha!" moment. Also, rebound the suspension on the jump face like a bunny hop for more air to clear a longer jump, and suck your legs in on the jump face to go straighter and faster and make your lap time quicker.

So the Motorcycle show is on this weekend. Have some photos! Stupidly clean '71 XS650 So it turns out I'll never be able to ride a VMAX. Because I have knees, and those intake thingies were designed for people without them. A cool off-road racer (probably built for the Finke rally), a 450 I'd guess. The cockpit. The Panigale! Looks brilliant in the metal. It's pretty drat small (well, it looks small), lots of very tasty bits. It's odd how little of the lights you see when you look at it straight on. In this photo the nose is maybe chest height. You buy this one, it never really feels right then a year later you open your garage and it's turned into an FZ6. This seems like a bad idea. Looks so spindly. And this seems like an even worse idea. Why is there a car at the bike show? Just because the brake discs are like a bike's doesn't make it a bike. Ooooooooooooooooooooooh! This was at some point a Rocket3. Probably can't see it here, but it still had shaft drive, but instead of driving the wheel it drove a jackshaft which then had the chain on it So pretty. So pretty. Despite having what looked like stupid clubman bars, these actually have a nice riding position. Didn't hurt my neck at all. Definitely back on the shopping list. I don't care, this thing is loving cool. If you the bars were maybe 1/3-1/2 as high it'd be perfect. 240kph speedo is a bit optimistic though. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssss POWAH. Not sure how much I'd trust it on a Benelli though. Benelli winning the "Coolest tank badge of the show" award. Oddly, I found the S more comfortable than the R. Do want. Just need $35k+ Art Deco motorcycle Never actually seen a MotoGP machine in real life before. Very cool, all special bits on this thing. Ruined it. Previous model looks better. Not pictured: Ridiculously hot Honda booth model. Full set here.

I want one of these so bad, but at £7500 and having no garage to keep it in means it'll have to stay on the "one day..." wishlist That Victory is very nice looking, but I agree, those bars would have to go.

40hp is insane for 1907. BMW didn't make a production bike with more than 34hp until the 70s. But then that Curtiss was 4 liters...

True, and he had a rolling start. Interesting on the BMWs...I have to imagine that had more to do with restraint and common sense than a lack of engineering wherewithal.

True, I think he's covered just about every way you can break a law on a sport bike. I'm still going to watch it but I definitely agree with you. I'm curious to see what he's going to do with that Subaru though, I really think that's going to be the most interesting part of his movie.
