Yeah I know you can't stack Amazon copies for example, but I'm hoping Best Buy ones can be. Guess I'll find out in...February? I'm probably not going to put these in right away.

I will be interested in how that turns out. So far, I have a Best Buy key and a pile of gamecards, and have held off from the GameStop key because (a) its gift item is gently caress-all useless now and (b) the gamecards are effectively cheaper.

I think the gimmick was that you could put in 1 retail code per account? Or maybe it was you could put in one code per retailer per account? Something like that, I know you can't just keep extending your sub using retail keys forever.

The control panel on their site lists every code you've entered as a specific unlock (my Steam purchase, for example), so chances are it'll detect the codes as being from either specific retailers or as a generic code and probably won't let you stack them if they match. I never looked into much though. Also, , can't wait to see how many chumps buy fifty bags of poo poo just to get a costume piece. Gotta love cash shops.

Anyone else think those packs sound suspiciously similar to the Super Packs CoH announced recently? What you get (Random consumables and costume bits) is the same, and they're even the same 80 points. I can't help but wonder which game ripped off the other, or if they somehow both genuinely had the same idea at almost the same time.

Sheesh. Sure, but if you're Silver you don't have the powers that they recolored. It's not going to be people with Infernal buying the bags for the AT, it's going to be people trying to get a cheap AT. I do like that I saw people selling the AT for 1000 last night, though. More than silver can hold, excellent business strategy there, Captain Darkshadow. Also, CO has had these bags since F2P launch. They just used to only offer gear and a consumable, costumes are recent. Having an exclusive costume set is annoying, but it's grimdark garbage anyway so nobody important is hurt. If they put the bird armor set in one though, there will be a fight. I have vacation days and I know where they're located. Aphrodite fucked around with this message at 12:50 on Nov 24, 2011 |

They were, but Cryptic yanked them from the PTS P-D-Q! They probably came to the conclusion that folks were going to realize that this grab bag thing is bullshit (which it is). Oh yeah, and the AT unlock for 1000g It just feels wrong for me, even though I did buy a few with the leftover CP when I picked up the blazing speed that's on sale. Looks like CO is in decline again. A few familiar names have disappeared from the channel, and some others are on much less often. I blame Asimo. Anyway, here were tonight's winners... Left to right: Neon Girl as Crazy Britney. Yankee Poodle, our Worst winner. Sister Silicon Prime, who won Electricity. There are literally a dozen different tights pieces with electric themes, and like 5 emblems. Not one made an appearance tonight. Psychonaut, who won Space. Comrade Kangaroo, who won Soviet despite not looking like a Kangaroo. He has a tail you can't see. Peachy, who won Formal.

Well my best buy copies arrived and I'm assuming these won't stack after all. Apparently, they give you like 400 points, a Grond figure, and some damage reduction item. The Amazon copies gave points and costume unlocks and would not stack, so I'm guessing that will be the same deal here (or they will just come up generic because these are old and maybe the offer has passed, I don't know). I would find out right now, but I know I'm not going to have much time to play through December. Gimme a couple days into January and I'll have the mystery of stacking cheap rear end best buy copies solved though. I am at least hopeful that I can use one of these on my account, as otherwise they'll become pretty useless.

Trip report: the reworked Supernatural powerset / Poison mechanic. Previously, the Infernal Supernatural powerset was a pretty simple deal: 1) Get Venomous Breath as a spammable cone attack 2) Get Supernatural Power to make Venomous Breath be a non-stop energy factory 90% of the time 3) Get Vile Lariat w/advantage for 100% chance of Bleed at range, then get the Venomous Breath advantage that stuns Bleeding enemies 4) Ride those to level 40. The above still works fine, but Poison brings more powers into play. The basic idea is that lots of Supernatural powers have some chance of causing Poison stacks, they stack up to ten, they have 50% shield penetration, and more stacks now cause more DoT instead of more ticks. The end result is that consistently poisoning an enemy can stack up substantial DoT pretty quickly. Enter Epidemic, a new power that is sufficiently effective that a nerf bat might be coming. 25 foot PBAoE, does reasonable damage per .5 sec, and each tick has a 15% chance of adding a Poison stack. Take the advantage and the maintain shortens from 4 seconds to 3, and the Poison stack chances increase to 25%/tick. Why is a shorter maintain good? Because if you do a full maintain, enemies caught in it have their Poison stacks DOUBLED. This can get hefty enemies up to a full 10 stacks very very quickly and keep them there. Epidemic ALSO syncs up with Supernatural Power, meaning that full maintains are super easy to spam. The wide AoE range and move-while-attacking mean that you can wade through groups, maintain the Smoke Rings of Doom, and not worry too much about aggroing because anything that gets close to you drops. Other new powers include Infernal Blast, a tier 0 that refreshes Poison stacks and (with adv) spreads Poison to other targets on a full charge (meh -- you're better off just applying stacks the normal way) and Locust Swarm (standard-issue charge-to-Paralyze, can Poison with its advantage), along with a reworking of Aspect of the Infernal to make it trigger on Poison rather than knocks (Aspect of the Ethereal does what Infernal used to do). The effect is to make Pestilence a little more interesting, if you don't mind being squishy, as it now reduces Toxic resistance by 1% per stack of Poison on an enemy. That 10% Toxic debuff, plus the 8.3%-12% Toxic debuff from Defile, plus Pestilence jacking up Toxic damage and causing additional Toxic DoT up close, plus the Toxic AoE DoT advantage on Defile, plus a damage boost from Aspect, plus constant Epidemic spams... that's a lot of pain in the air. An alternative for increased survivability is to take something like Regeneration or Invulnerability, so that you can suck up hits while puffing everything in sight.

Wind is up on the PTS right now. Most of the advantages aren't in, but the set gimmick seems to be knocks (Of course) and some kind of synchronization with Ice and Electric. New calender's up too. Week 2: Holiday Event Grab Bag (Likely identical to the Halloween one, early stuff from the event), Whiteout 4 Week 3: Whiteout 5 and "Whiteout Costume Set and Items" in the C-Store. Week 4: Earth and Wind powersets, and Total Whiteout. Week 5 (into January): Costume Grab Bag Also Winter Event runs 16th-31st. Nothing has been clarified, so if the Whiteout set is just a shortcut or actual new stuff, nobody knows. Same with what's in the bags. Okay, I got an idea. "Supergoons has run out of ideas! That's why we're letting YOU, the people, choose the categories for our next Costume Contest! What category do you wish was at a CC, but never is? Really want to show off that costume you made, but never find an appropriate category? Now's your chance!" Then we totally ruin their suggestions. They give us Ninja, we make Ninja Turtle. They give us Catgirl, we give them Cat-in-the-Hatgirl. This would be for next weekend. Saturday, 8 server, the usual. As for our Christmas, I think we'll need to do that on the Friday since the Saturday is Christmas Eve and people probably won't be around.
