Well according to http://www.leggodt.nl/items/buildingtoys/brand.php?sq=50&language=en, "the quality is poor and it doesn't stick very well" , there's also a picture of some pieces there. Looks to be the same as the Enlighten or Shifty clone bricks, it's probably all from the same factory anyway, so they probably really suck in the quality department

Just picked up Creationary at KMart for $25 (got the original used years ago), and Exploration HQ for $18.50 (down from $50). It was already discounted and they have all discounted toys an extra half off. They still have like six of them.

I believe the picture on Amazon shows all the fully assembled things from it. Which is good because it's all minifigs and really tiny ships from what I could make out. Nothing even remotely Christmassy in the lot. Have some fun with it, Lego! Dress Han up like Santa! Chewbacca could be the Bumble! Two words: X-Wing Sleigh.

The City one didn't seem to have too much more, though. Seems mainly like an excuse to offload excess Police and City figures. If they'd do a nice Santa's Workshop set or something, I'd totally grab one. They've always just felt really lackluster, though. :(

Finally getting back into the swing of set buying after an extended hiatus. Last stuff I bought was the dwarf fortress and some of the smaller miner sets, and I think that was around a year ago. This time I figured I'd just get stuff with no figures and went with three Creator sets. Mini firetruck, mini plane, and the blue car, I believe. I like the thought behind those. Extend the build times by including more poo poo to build before you break them down into pieces for other stuff.

I've been tempted to buy some of the knockoffs before. I don't know about this one but the pieces look almost exactly like LEGO pieces (there are more auctions for this set - they sell them for $.01 and then put the actual price in the shipping cost).

Hahahah, Ligao. I found a Ligao set actually being sold, in a store, in America, once. I had to buy it. The pieces look incredibly legit, almost like they were from the actual molds, but there's something about the plastic and its friction that makes it not a terribly tight fit. If they invested a bit more in the plastic used, I'd say that they'd actually be better than Mega Bloks.

My birthday Lego haul went so dang great. At the flea market I found the Sherrif's Lock Up and Tribal Chief sets from the mid to late 90s with the boxes and instructions in excellent condition. They had two other kits from the same Western line that I'm going to go back and get next weekend if they aren't gone (couldn't afford them all in one go). I only glanced over their contents but it looks like all the pieces are there. They were really well taken care of. I ended up not getting a train when I went to TRU. I decided I'd get the Emerald Night online sometime later. Instead I got the new garbage truck (and as soon as I get a set with a bear there will be trash bears, dont' you worry) and the technic Super Car. I also grabbed some Prince of Persia kit on the cheap at a discount store. I don't really like the PoP sets, but since it was at a discount I figured some extra sand-colored pieces and a couple of ostriches and a scorpion were worth it.

Birthdays rule.

I know Jusupov has made the purchase already, but I was going to make the arguement that the Black Pearl is better than Queen Annes Revenge. However when you look at the facts (piece count) thats a hard arguement to make.

Black Pearl
779 Parts
6 Minifigs

Queen Anne’s Revenge
1054 Parts
9 Minifigs

Queen Anne's is only about $10 more expensive. So its a pretty obvious choice in my eyes. However the Black Pearl is the only way to get the kickin rad Davy Jones minifig, and that bad boy is $20+ right there.

ALSO, we need to send a few Lego goons to reeducate some of the posters in this thread http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3452012 titled "lovely Toys for lovely kids". I was happy to see the sixth reply was "Mega Bloks". But then...

"gently caress you, Mega Bloks is awesome."

"I thought it was fairly obvious to everyone that Megablocks are the little kid version of Legos?

You don't give a 2 year old a Lego set for christ's sake. Now if someone is buying a 10 year old Megablocks than yeah, but they are clearly made for a reason, not just a cheap Lego knock-off.

Though I guess you could buy Duplos but the point stands."

My 4 year old got into my city advent calender early this year and ripped half the advent "doors" off the package and into 50 billion pieces and mis-arranged all the bags in the trays. Looks like I'm going to have to hunt down what each advent is online for instructions. Missing day 3, but so far a neat setup.

I just built the Supercar today. And by today I mean it literally took me more or less the entire day to build it. Man, that was a huge job but it was really fun. As soon as I turned the motor on and let it drive around my dog threw a huge fit over it. I laughed at him. A good time was had by all.

Not sure how much anyone cares but I went back to my local Wal-Mart today and they still had the 1600 piece for $30.00. When I went the first time they had 5 shelves full with. Now they've got one shelf of them left and the rest are filled with other toys. It seems that they're keeping them at $30 until they run out. Bought another 2 boxes. 11,200 pieces later, I'm pretty happy. Check them Wal-Marts!

I hate the concept of stickers because you have to place them neatly and they peel off and such, but on the plus side plus if you don't apply the stickers then you can use the blocks for other things.

They used to do that a lot back in the late 80's/early 90's. I remember I had one pizzeria set (I think it was re-released here a few years ago) that had one sticker go all across the side of a pizza truck - like 7 or 8 bricks were covered - and then one sticker all across the top of the building - another 7 or 8 bricks. Those chunks of brick were stuck together forever in my big box of lego before I finally took the stickers off. Now I can't rebuild the set because I don't have the stickers anymore. Always hated it.

As far as I'm aware it would be 3. Waldurk, Nathuz and Fortaan. That would get you 3x Barbarians 2x Druids, 2x Wizards and 1 of each of the Knight, Ranger and Thief (plus all the tiles of course).

Sadly there is no way to avoid the multiples.
