My dad is trying his best, but for every bit of progress the kid makes, all it takes is one hour with our mom to get him right back to square one. What he really needs is an extended seperation from our mom, but I have no idea how that could be arranged. Would they be able to keep her from contacting him at an institution?
And honestly, as much as it hurts to say I don't think he'll be outliving our parents. Despite all the work our dad's put in the kid has no idea how to take care of himself and refuses to exercise or eat real food. He's completely helpless when he has to do things like shop or talk to a teacher on his own. We try to encourage him to be healthier and independent, but.... ugh. He'd rather watch youtube LPs and write about fairies all day :(

He was cruel to all our pets up until he killed Rebecca(my rat) at age 13. After that he wouldn't go near an animal for the longest time, and took even longer to trust himself to touch one again. I honestly believe that, while he's still drawing creepy torture porn he wouldn't hurt anyone. As far as I know he no longer tortures animals, none of our current pets react to him the same way our old ones did. Our old pets were all terrified of him.

First as a dumb kid I read shitloads of books and watched and drew lots of anime. I'm amazed I didn't turn into Denise, I was so loving obsessed. Later I discovered that sonic the hedgehog poo poo was easier to draw than anime and got even worse because of how terrible the fandom is. As I got older I turned to drugs, self harm and suicide attempts to deal with everything going on. I'm not sure what I'm more ashamed of.
These days I'm severely socially awkward, have trust issues, seperation anxiety and stuggle with codependency. As much as the constant groundings hosed me over(staying in the same room for months on end fucks with you a lot) it also meant that I would have to stay off the internet and take a break from the anime for extended periods of time. I think that's the one thing that saved me from being like my brother, as depressing as that is. Also lots of therapy and medication.

Acebuckeye13 posted:

Back in the day my dad was incredibly violent and unstable and tbh I can't write about some of the things he did without shaking and breaking into tears. I'm pretty weak, haha. After I moved out on my own I didn't talk to him for almost two years, even when it meant living in poverty and starving. During those two years he recieved therapy and took anger management classes. He also stopped drinking. He's much, much better these days, enough that I currently live with him now.

Speaking of which, I should clarify our living situation. Both me and my brother live with the dad, and occasionally visit our mother. He tends to stay with her on the weekends, while I put off visiting her as much as possible.

Our dad seriously worries about my brother and is working hard to undo my mom's damage. He's constantly venting to me about his frustration over what a mess my brother is, how angry he is over my mom's treatment of him and constantly blaming himself for everything. It's really depressing.

It's uncomfortable to talk about, but I was a huge loving mess when I hit my late teens. I was addicted to meth(still working on that oops), had untreated bipolar, was cutting and burning myself constantly, and tried to kill myself several times. I should have gone sooner, but my mom insisted I was just doing everything for attention while my dad was too busy being drunk or sleeping all day to even notice. When I was old enough I admitted myself and finally got the help I needed. I'm in debt for life but it was worth it.

My brother hasn't been institutionalized because no one's made him go, basically. Dad doesn't have the money, and mom thinks that its only crazies and fuckups. I can't imagine what having two kids put through it would do for her ego.

It should've been a red flag, but I was 17 and horny. God drat it, what an embarassing disaster. Yes, if they are committed to different ones.

This thread has been mind-blowing. I have my own friend who has an anime obsession (no merchandize, just watches a truckload every day) and there was a period that he claimed that there were two other people living in his head, one of which was a demon, but he is also the kindest person I know and he has helped me and even people he just met many, many times, so I'd rather not talk about him in these forums.

Not to mention that there was absolutely nothing he did that was even close to the caliber of the stories in this thread. Mostly things like walking into his apartment and finding notes left from one of his personalities to another.

Also, I'm sure I've missed some questions about Denise. The one I can remember reading was something like "How can she have babies if she's SUPERDEMONMAN Parrier?"

The answer is that she was not ALWAYS Superdemondragonincubusman Parrier. She started out as Magnolia, a female who was into Heero Yuy and, then, Sephiroth (among other things?). THEN Parrier started to make his appearances, and eventually took over.

x. There are nearly infinite levels of existence that exist simultaneously. These levels are multiple dimensions which contain variations on the tangible realm as we understand it. For example, there is a dimension in which Hitler never existed, one in which he won the war, one in which dinosaurs never went extinct... All down to relatively tiny differences like for example, a dimension in which nothing is different except that I was born a male.
This sounds kind of cool to me. It doesn't harm anybody to think that and it's an interesting take on the nature of existence.

x. Whenever someone thinks up an idea, it becomes real by way of creating these dimensions from thin air more or less and that just the act of thinking does this. Denise postulates that when someone imagines a fantasy world, or dreams up a person or animal, a dimension is instantly created from the void that contains these fantasy things in it. This would make for a cool plot device in a book or something.

x. The more people think about the same thing, the closer its dimension comes towards tangibility. She believes that when enough people have conceptualised a particular world, the characters and things within it will begin to develop souls and spirits and poo poo. It's here that the What the Christ factor really starts to kick in hard for me.

x. With all the above considered, it then follows that books, films, TV shows, games and anime are not only real, but the source material has been exposed to thousands and in some cases millions of minds, thus making their respective worlds very close to the tangible realm.

drat near necromancy here, but I just wanted to chime in on this. I had a similar but inverse idea when I was 14 or something. I dove headfirst into imagination whenever the opportunity presented itself, but I drat sure always knew the difference between playing pretend and reality.

Edward Scissorhands was actually what made me visualize it completely. Everything you think of that seems like an original thought or a dream is a vision or sensation coming from a parallel multiverse universe or some nonsense. Your thoughts are created by the existence of the imagined events, so the events of Edward Scissorhands happened somewhere out in the wild red yonder and Tim Burton felt it or something (never worried those important details too much) and wrote it down.

I also had the idea of multiple universes in concentric circles around ours when I was 5 or something. I'm pretty sure I was just telling stories, but my mom was gobsmacked when she learned about the multiverse theory a decade later, that her 5 year old son once had the same idea.

She also swears I could read when I was 2. :v:

If I'm not mistaken, the DC Comics universe pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths worked in a similar way. They needed to explain why some of the Golden Age of Comics heroes (such as the original Flash, Green Lantern, etc.) only existed as comic book characters in the Silver Age while some of their contemporaries continued to fight crime and so on. The explanation was that there were multiple parallel dimensions, and the that writers of the in-universe comics detailing the exploits of the Golden Age heroes were actually receiving their inspiration from these parallel dimensions.

I'm sure I didn't explain that very well, but here's a link to the Wikipedia entry on the history of DC's multiverse. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiverse_%28DC_Comics%29

The lolitas are crazier than the BJD people in some cases.

Above mentioned girl is also one of the local BJD collectors. She is quite normal. But there are a handful of crazies in the local doll community, including one pathological liar that supposedly nearly gets raped by every man that looks at her and carries her doll with her EVERYWHERE (including hockey games and gay bars). There's another who invited the press to a private doll collector's get together. And another who is in her fifties and carries her doll around in a baby carrier sling type thing and went to a convention with a colander on her head. Oh and a bunch of girls who had their dolls have gay orgies in a public park with children around.

I'm a doll collector myself and enjoy making things for my dolls, but mostly they sit on a shelf and look pretty until I want to make something with or for them.

Unrelated to dolls, I totally had a close friend once who thought he was the reincarnation of a bird god. Or something. And that all his friends were the rebirthed souls of his bird children (myself included). Sad to say that these delusions had a tendency to suck people in. I have a cousin who is also a furry whose fursona is a grizzly bear with pink hair who is dating a wolf.
