Funny how America elected a good strong Christian President who wanted to put God "back" in everything and the world started to blow the gently caress up. Funny.

That whole Funny How YOU DON'T WANT TO FORWARD SOMETHING RELIGIOUS spiel has been around for at least 13 years. Much as he's a douche, Ben Stein had nothing to do with that.

Not only that, but why would he say that on a news show? "If you're not transcribing and forwarding what I'm saying on air right now, you're not a Christian I guess" Also the whole thing about Dr. Spock's son killing himself is full of poo poo. Nice tactic in trying to say it's ok to hit your kids because a prominent child psychologist/behaviorist who said it wasn't beneficial and was bad for a kids development ended up having his own son commit suicide. Guess that wouldn't have happened if he hit his kid. Oh wait, his son didn't kill himself. Nice try, assholes.

For a Jew, Ben Stein is sure awfully enthusiastic about Christianity. So enthusiastic that I think his sole remaining link to Jewishness (apart from some DNA) is the fact that he still wants to be able to say "but I'm not Christian and [fundamentalist Christian hangup under discussion] doesn't bother me!"quote:And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees, Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are, Christmas trees. Hey, wow, if it isn't pretty much everybody's opinion who isn't a Bill O'Reilly strawman. I've seen a lot of "War on Christmas" bullshit on Facebook and every time I've asked them to show me an example of someone getting in trouble for saying "Christmas" or someone complaining about how the word offended them. No takers so far. Plom Bar posted:Much as he's a douche, Ben Stein had nothing to do with that. drat, that means whoever wrote this actually out-douched the Expelled guy.

No takers so far. Yeah, I'm not sure if it is deliberate or if they really can't comprehend the difference between private businesses and churches displaying nativity scenes publicly and the government doing it. But no one gets upset at "that manger scene on the corner" or says "Merry Christmas". No one is trying to ban churches from displaying Christmas symbols during Christmas or to prevent Walmart from saying "Merry Christmas". It always reminds me of that chain email with the line: "You can have pornography on TV or the internet, but you better not put a nativity scene in a public park during Christmas."

He also called Sarah Palin a whacko before it was cool in the media less than a week after she was picked by McCain to be his running mate. Boondock Saint posted:"Go tell ten people Merry Christmas and then go tell ten different people Happy Holidays. See who gets offended." Yeah I got the idea when I worked customer service. When I said "merry Christmas" it wasn't a thing but when I tried "happy holidays" I had culture warriors jumping down my throat left and right. Never mind that "merry Christmas" is the one that takes tolerance for me because all I celebrate on the 25th is getting a year older, never mind that taking Christmas music out of stores is an act of loving mercy, refusing to pretend to be Christian is discrimination against Christians. e:f,b on the "loving mercy"

It seems that nobody ever considers that "Happy Holidays" might refer to New Year's Day as well as Christmas. Instead they get all offended that somebody might be suggesting they enjoy a Jewish holiday or a black holiday. It's so ridiculous to get offended.

Its extra hilarious to point out that "press 1" is a free market driven way for companies to appeal to a broader consumer base. Happy holidays too, is broad appeal to more people. Seasons Greetings doesnt work with that arguement though.

The "America was founded as a CHRISTIAN NATION" bothers me so much. It expressly wasn't. When they were writing the Constitution they could have easily said "hey guys, we're a Christian nation" instead of having to decipher clues that they may or may not have written in private letters or whatever bullshit people point to. It makes me so changry (wait this isn't tviv is it)
