i read metagame (sam landstrom) from the kindle library and it was p good: lots of nice conceptual stuff extrapolated from current internet "culture", though i think he spent too long on some of the plot and not long enough on the really crucial issues. it has a real hunger games vibe going for it as well. the dude is a molecular biologist, so i was expecting something jargony like blindsight (which i, as a biologist, really enjoyed), but it was pretty toned down.

I kinda stopped watching a bit after they introduced him, did they ever give him any funny episodes? because for me the funny episodes were a decent chunk of the appeal of that show.

This is true, although there was the one episode where the other agent finally met Mulder and started to ask him about all of the plot holes from the movie.

I'm reading The Reality Dysfunction by Peter F. Hamilton and it's pretty good but Hamilton needs to fire his proofreader. So many goddamn comma splices.

people call it a classic because its kinda darkish but completely ignore that everything in the 80s was kinda dark in the 80s and early 90s

pretty much. generalizing dr. who is impossible, but most of it is pretty bad imo. if you like british sci-fi / comedy shows like red dwarf some of the newer stuff is alright.
