I am seriously not trolling here but what came out that was good this year? Only thing that I can even think of besides BTMI - Vacation is the new Star loving Hipsters and I haven't remembered to get that yet. Oh yea and new Planet Smashers that was pretty good.

I don't mean it a released music thing, just lots of awesome ska-happenings. Asian Man 15th featuring Slapstick's reunion, The FIF news, Mustard Plug 20th, the Hometown Throwdown line up, The Aquabats got their show. Just seems like a pretty sweet year.

So I've been listening to the new tomas kalnoky and, well, its alright. I've always been kind of iffy on his voice, and it just sounds really weird and...fake, maybe, on this album. I really prefer the live recordings of him performing.

I've now given the new Tomas several listens as well. In isolation, on its own, I like it a lot. I like the guitar work, I like Tomas' voice, and of course I like the songs. In context, it's been four years since Somewhere In The Between and I would really like some new material.

Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from the other auctions will also go to Dave to help cover his treatment. That's a pretty significant disclaimer! Only one of the auctions is for a Big D record, the other 18 records being auctioned are for other bands. I wonder just how much "a portion" is.

Quest For Glory II posted:This sounds horrible. There's no acoustic aesthetic to this music at all. It sounds like they took the master recordings from "Best of Us For the Rest of Us" and just replaced the guitar track with a different one, and muted the drum cymbals. This is so disingenuine it hurts. I don't think it's awful but it is really lazy and makes me lose even more faith in RBF. It makes me really sad because RBF were my favorite band for years

Friendly reminder, new Bosstones record out today. Besides physical copies, I know I got mine from Amazon MP3 and I assume it's available on iTunes too. I actually forgot all about it in the last day or two, but my Twitter feed this morning was full of retweets by the Bosstones' account, so it was hard to miss. Settling in to listen now, though it will be broken up by times that I'm away from my desk and I'll want to give it a few spins before reporting back.
