Naw, Mike Ross is Mick Foley. Everybody loves him, but all he does is get the living poo poo beat out of him.

Mega Man is the jobber. Does that mean that Capcom is Vince McMahon?

I don't think either of them (MR or Combo) are really down on the guy, they just like poking fun at him. That said, it was pretty funny when Jago ventilated Mike in their matches.

Blue Dante + Blue Vergil is so annoying, I can never tell if I'm hitting the point or the assist. I like Mike a lot more than Jago but Mike had no shot. Did Jago play Trish? If he dropped her he'd probably actually be good.

The guide has a tidbit about Chris's prone position causing him to stand up in an invincible animation when the opponent gets behind him. Apparently you can use this to punish teleporters by getting up into an immediate throw (which Chris gets a full combo from). Of course this depends on how well they've covered their teleport with assists/other projectiles. The above suggestion to anticipate the teleport and cover your position with your own assist sounds like a better general option though. IMO you should consider Sentinel for any team that includes Chris since drones seems to help his gameplan a LOT, and would also work great for the teleport counter-tactic since it stays out sooooo long. Besides which Sentinel is a pretty strong character on his own and has good DHC synergy with Chris!

The broadcasters who stream something then take down archives, process all the footage and upload to youtube/release DVDs/whatever are really loving up. Generally, it takes spooky a week or more to get youtube uploads available. With Cross Counter who knows how long it'll take. CC sometimes releases interviews done at majors 2 weeks or more after the fact. CC puts videos of Gootecks and Mike Ross playing day 1 UMvC3 up a month after the game comes out. A week is forever in Internet time, a month is a lifetime. Anything less than a day is too long. By the time a week has passed I've seen the results already, have watched other streams and heard what happened, or read an interview somewhere else. Point being, by the time they turn it around I don't really care anymore because I'm watching some other stream that happened more recently. It is more important for media to be available right now than it is to edit it and tart it up. /rant That said, I will still watch barfights since the links are available.

Is there a trick to timing your inputs or is Frank just wierd like that?

I really don't know why they wanted it taken down. I would figure they'd continue down the path they used for Canada Cup and Season's Beatings, releasing the extra stuff for a fee while leaving the streamed stuff archived for all to see.

If it's about the money then I wouldn't mind paying a couple bucks for archive access. Sure beats waiting till they get their poo poo together and packaging something that I will not buy or watch. In a perfect world all the broadcasters would have nice, categorized archives on a single website that are available as soon as the broadcast ends. A website that is not twitch.tv because twitch.tv makes it miserable to find archived material and watch it, even when you follow the broadcasters.

Frank and firebrand are the only two new characters I haven't messed with much. My friend who mains him seems to think it's the latter though. Honestly just go into training and focus on pressing that input with slightly different timing every time. Not only does it keep training the BnB into muscle memory but it's about the only way you'll get proper timing. Once you find that sweet spot make sure to give it a few more reps to make sure it's engrained in your brain.

Are there any good setups for Nova and Frank? Also, how do you make Ryu's ninja mode safe in combos?
|
# ? Dec 12, 2011 20:14 |

The only setup you really need for nova/frank (on an incoming character at least) is: call frank, gravimetric blast C (shield), SJC cancel the Grav blast into a Javelin (for some reason you can sjc "tiger knee" this like you can viper's seismos) and then go for a hi/low mixup. If frank isn't around just call a shield than use positioning and dashes while they come in for your setup. E: the timing on calling frank is wrong but you basically want to call him as a meaty. As for setups specifically using the two characters during the normal course of a match? I have a friend that plays those two on his main team and I don't ever really see him pull out any gimmicks that specifically require those two. He has lots of Air grab super resets for frank and lots of even sillier resets for nova but resets are generally pretty easy to figure out. The easiest ones are nova ending a combo with ->C then resetting with s.A for a mixup of your choice and frank can opt to not super after taking a picture and do his air grab reset instead which is a pretty fun gimmick you can use maybe once. If I can think of anything else he uses I'll post it up. HORSEPORN fucked around with this message at 20:30 on Dec 12, 2011 |

I hope this isn't old information, but you can get Frank to level 4 really easily with this team. Put Nova on point and finish your Nova combo in the air with his dp+AA, but DHC before he says "Nova Force" into Frank's tools of survival. If you do it properly, Nova will shout "Power of the Frank!" Frank will whiff, but the opponent will be in hard knockdown and you get level 4 instantly with a snapshot, and if you have an extra level of super you can do another tools of survival. This works because the supernova super is a hard knockdown for the first half.

Has anyone experimented with tigerknee'ing Taskmaster's Aim Master? I don't know if it's just me, but the timing seems really weird, resulting in him doing a full jump rather than a short hop.

There are a few videos on youtube showing Nova combos that make it all the way to level 5 frank. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUvxJo7CYUY I think this is corner only? I don't play Nova so I dunno but it's also pretty good damage for what it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQCSL6Bk87A One being done from midscreen.

You will never get a short hop off a tiger knee'd aim of hawkeye because Taskmaster keeps his momentum from previous movement during all his actions other than mighty swing and his supers. Even if you tiger knee it perfectly he will just accelerate really quickly upwards when he fires the arrows.

Just XFC instead of DHC then OTG with forward C.
