yeah i do remember a lot of stuff like the robocop films where there was tons of urban decay crime drugs and violence towards innocents

Year's Best SF is actually the David G. Hartwell & Kathryn Cramer anthology, and it isn't as good as The Year's Best Science Fiction as edited by Gardner Dozois. There's also the Year's Best Science Fiction & Fantasy (edited by Rich Horton), which is pretty good.
