Android Market version 3.4.4 is rolling out. Direct download for the impatient. Much better performance, though I kind of miss the header indicators.

So what's everyone's favorite browser at the moment? I'm using Opera Mobile and I like it for the most part but there's a handful of quirks about it that bother me.

The one thing I hate about Opera Mobile is the menu takes up like half the screen. It just seems weird, and not very Android like. I, too, am holding out for the ICS browser, but using Opera Mobile at the moment.

Stock android Browser for both honeycomb and gingerbread for me. Never bothered me much, although honeycomb on the transformer still has web page lag at times.

The default browser on my Transformer is fine for me. Someone posted a fix for the default browser in another thread- in the standard Browser, go to Settings -> Labs and click the option for quick/thumb controls or whatever. It makes using the default browser a really nice experience. I also have Beaver Lite for watching porn

EXCLUSIVE PRO FEATURES * View your entire list (no limits) * Easily search, sort, tag and archive content in queue * Scroll with the volume rocker * Rotation lock I use it pretty much for the search/sort/tag/archive feature, though I really could have been fine with the regular RIL. I was just feeling generous and decided to buy it (a week before it was the free app of the day). You could also just use RIL for both, though I have both the C->P and RIL add-on right next to each other in Chrome so if I want my link immediately or if I want to view it soon but not just yet, I have both options. I don't think there's a two-way app/add-on, at least not that I've seen.

I have several browsers on my phone, because I'm always interested in finding something better than stock on my Incredible. I haven't decided though. I tend to bounce between stock and Dolphin Mini the most. I have: Beaver Lite Boat Boat Mini Dolphin Dolphin Mini Maxthon Mobile Opera Mobile

I use Firefox mobile because of the adblock plus addon and the Sync feature. Also I really like how it handles tabs (just swipe to the right to show tabs). Unfortunately, I find it does crash every now and then if I have a lot of tabs open with flash stuff. And, it does take a LONG time to launch initially, which can be frustrating... which is also why I still use the stock browser when I'm just quickly looking something up.

Can I get some recommendations, to save me sifting through all the available possiblities? I need a decent music player, and I'd like it to have a widget with a transparent background option. In fact, is there anything that allows you to edit widgets so you can make them all transparent? Also, I need a Twitter client that will allow me to switch between different accounts, rather than bundling the feeds from all of them together into one timeline. I like Plume, and I really liked the simplicity of Twicca, but I couldn't figure out how to get either of them to do that.

Codiusprime posted:Opera has that feature also. This happens because Opera was available for dumbphones for long enough that "Opera" as your useragent will tell sites that have a mobile version to send that to you instead of the real one. This has driven me nuts for years with my college's website, trying to use Opera on the PC. Try it with your useragent to IE or "desktop". Or maybe I've misunderstood your problem.

I use PowerAMP. It's a pay app, so it might not be waht you're looking for exactly, but it works very well for me, and they just recently updated the widgets with an opacity option, apparently. It also has a lock-screen player option, if that's something you're looking for as well. There's also management by folder instead of tags, which is a plus for some people.

Is the rumor that alternative browsers (i.e. Dolphin) will flag your usage as tethering (user agent string fuckery)? I'd sure hate to put my grandfathered (ATT) unlimited plan in jeopardy simply by using an alternative browser on my phone... Or is this an urban legend?

PowerAmp and Ubermusic are both good. Ubermusic definitely has a transparent skin. There's also Pure Music Widget which is not a player, but a collection of skinnable widgets that work with most music players. All of these options are pay-for, though.

I'd sure hate to put my grandfathered (ATT) unlimited plan in jeopardy simply by using an alternative browser on my phone... That rumor is false. It's not the browser, it's that mobile data and tethered data travel on different layers (I know this isn't the right term, it's on the tip of my tongue). AT&T and other providers use this information for tethering detection. You don't need to use a browser for them to detect it, an IM client or email or video game, anything using the tethered data layer will set a flag. The way people get around this is by forcing tethered data to ride the same horse as mobile data. Speculation: I would assume that making your phone a mobile hotspot and having other phones connect through it via wifi would use the tethering layer as well.

Browsing on the laptop through my wifi hotspot has occasionally flagged as tethering, but only rarely (firefox). Different browsers on my phone have never flagged, interesting to know about the different layers/protocols.

Is there an app that will let me view excel spreadsheets, that will also make phone numbers that are entered dialable? IE: I have a phone number in the spreadsheet, and I can just click it and it takes me to the dialer? I have a bunch of spreadsheets I use for work and I just thought of putting them on my phone, and right now I have just been viewing them in Astro. But it doesn't let me click on the phone numbers, or even edit them for that matter. Its a minor thing but its really convenient when I need to contact someone based on this sheet when I am on the go. EDIT: Living Vicariously posted:So what's everyone's favorite browser at the moment? I'm using Opera Mobile and I like it for the most part but there's a handful of quirks about it that bother me.
