Boaz MacPhereson posted:What the gently caress? Have those guys EVER changed a tire? Ever? Honestly, probably not. It was probably a local short track team making a step up, and those guys run 50-100 lap races and almost never pit. They run a 200 lapper here at the local dirt track every October with a mandatory pit window, and it's the biggest clusterfuck you'll see in racing. I helped pit a car there about 12 years ago and it was loving scary. Seizure Meat fucked around with this message at 23:18 on Dec 14, 2011 |

VikingSkull posted:How did that guy get on that track with that safety equipment? Jesus loving Christ. Newbie HPDE's don't really require much in the way of safety equipment. If he was running (for example) a NASA event, all they really require for the folks in HPDE 1-4 is factory safety equipment, and a legal helmet. It's certainly something to keep in mind for people that want to do HPDE's, if you are pushing the limits (or someone else in your group anywhere near you is), accidents can, and will, happen.

I've definitely parked in tight spots where I couldn't grab the edge of my door and hold it away from the other car's body. Of course this system only helps with slow speeds. It wouldn't prevent you from putting a dent in their body.
