As a kid I would have been so stoked for that monster line, so for that reason I'm excited for those. A few of them, especially the hearse, look awesome. I'll wait until I see the inside of the castle until I'm sold on it. Is this the first example of minifigures from the mystery minifigure line being recycled for a theme? That Frankenstein, Mad Scientist, Mummy and Dracula are all definitely just the minifigs.

I'm way stoked to see the ghost again. That was one of the figs I wanted the most as a kid and never had.

I built my first LEGO Architect set the other night: The White House Not really sure what I think of it. It was a somewhat challenging build, but extremely repetitive. There was one step that was literally "do this 16x times." I'd definitely like to give one of the bigger architect sets a shot. Here's to hoping I get a nice big set for Christmas. Like the space shuttle.

I can't usually justify the $100+ to buy the sets I want, but my parents still get me a big LEGO set every year for Christmas. My Mom and I spent about an hour admiring sets on lego.com and Amazon. I'm hoping for Falling Water or the Robie House. I'm a big fan of Frank Lloyd Wright, especially because one of his buildings is from my home town (Dana Thomas House) which sadly isn't a LEGO set yet. If not another architect set, the Space Shuttle would be loving awesome, which my Mom seemed to like the most.

There's repetition, but it was much more rewarding than the "add 54x 1x1 tiles" you see in other Architecture sets. I give it my highest rating of 2 bricks up. P.S. I'm a LEGO employee and I'm obliged to point that out. This isn't a sales pitch, though.

I kind of dig the Monster Fighters line. My favourite being the little Swamp Boat vs Creature set. It comes back to conflict though, what we were talking about a couple of pages back. It splits most of the sets in two. I'd be happy with just the monster half. But then again the fighters do look cool. It's an interesting spiritual succesor to Pharoah's Quest as they're both heavily influenced by old Universal movies.

Oh wow, I'm sold on the goofy charms of Monster Fighters. The ghost train is a must buy, for sure. It's nice they've gone back to the Universal monsters for inspiration, and it's clear here the monsters are the big draw, with the Monster Fighters themselves being almost secondary in their own line. Can't wait! And thanks for the tip on the s6 minifigs, I'll have a look today in my local WHSmiths!

God drat this sorting thing. Bought 3 large "bits and pieces" cases from a hardware store and proceeded to try and sort by colour and type. gently caress that for a laugh. There are either too many types of part, or too many parts. Managed to sort a shopping bag full of lego though.

I usually split it up into type , then colour if possible I use the clear type shoe boxes for that then go into smaller containers. Disposable microwave containers work great you get 10 for $1 and except for larger bricks I can store what I have in them and sometimes just put them into the show box of that type of part. I also recommend if you have a building desk, get some corner round or crown molding and put it on the edge it makes it easier when building stuff. I also use a plastic mat you put under lamps that go on wood desks to keep the stable thats a non lego brick colour if you are working on technic stuff a lot because drat those little pins wiggle around

gently caress color sorting. I can tell a 1x4 flat of one color from another in a bin, its much harder to tell a 1x4 flat from a 1x3 flat of the same color in the same bin, and sorting down to 1x4 and by color means you have way too many tiny bins unless you have a LOT of goddamn lego.

I'm going to go out container shopping again tomorrow. These extra cases are just not doing the job. It's so bloody time consuming sorting through 15,000+ blocks, and the tiny things you end up filing under "misc" really don't help.

It just didn't work too well. But by going this way, I've managed to sort more in a day than I have ever before. There are just too many different types of part to sort neatly. I wish it were as simple as 1x2, 2x4, 4x2 etc... but it's all the other things that throw me off. Sorting into plates and bricks first didn't help either.

That's enough to cover what I have now, but if I get much more in the way of large sets, I'm going to be screwed. I've taken to putting sets together just so I don't have to store them. And I really don't have much organization besides separating bricks from plates, Technic from System, and sorting the tiny poo poo like studs and control sticks. It works for now.

Personally I don't bother with old grey anymore because it's that much harder to get, and newer pieces I like aren't in it. That said, old grey was better, I think, for stone and concrete. Bley is too bright for natural or weathered features in my opinion. Dark bley isn't as bad there, but I know the military guys much prefer old dark grey for its more olive drab feel. What was annoying for me was that there wasn't really any outreach about the changes, or even that much warning. I recall some of the LEGO community people saying AFOLs were complaining when the switch was made and they were saying "we heard about it when you did, so it's a surprise to us, too." Nowadays they might be more inclined to tell us about a change like that.

I never realised how expensive or rare Paradisa was until I came out of my dark ages. I dug out all my sets from my parents about 2 years ago, still in boxes! Unfortunately, I've had to throw the boxes out, I just don't have the space for them, but I don't ever intend to sell, so it's all fine. I cut them out and kept the cute pictures of alternate builds that was on the back/side of every one. As for which sets I have? I'll list them all, and here's the Bricklink Paradisa Page. 1761-Speedboat, 6401-Seaside Cabana (I think I have two), 6402-Sidewalk Cafe (I know I have two. Double sized icecream stand!), 6403-Paradisa Playground, 6404-Carriage Ride, 6409-Island Arcade, 6410-Cabana Beach, 6411-Sand Dollar Cafe, 6414-Dolphin Point, 6416-Poolside Paradise, 6419-Rolling Acres Ranch. The only one I don't have but really want is 6418-Country Club. Looking back at that list, I was a very very lucky girl!!! Shame I wasn't sensible enough to stop the bricks getting sun-damaged! Or the odd one getting lost! Oppsy.

I went to the Lego Store today in the hope to get appropriate parts for the life-size roller skate I'm building my mom, and saw this. It's probably one of the best deals I've seen in quite a while. 525 pieces, two minifigs, the new-style brick separator, for only $30. The parts are mostly small and there are a lot of wheels, but still, that's a great ratio these days. Sometimes even Creator sets fall short on that now. Also, they've started packaging Hero Factory figures into sealable polybags rather than the hard plastic storage containers. I suspect anything else using those containers (like the creator mini sets) will be moving to the bags over the next few months. The clerk couldn't tell me when they were expecting to have the mini modular buildings in; she didn't know anything more than Jan/Feb.
