I wish I had a picture... If I ever get to see daylight (working nights), I can run out there and snap a few photos, I know the chief. Ahhh...yeah...OK, that's not all that atypical. I though you were talking about the fire pump being in the mix there. Lots of old trucks have a direct drive fan. If it's got one of those and good belts/pulleys/water pump and it still overheats, it's time to rod out the radiator. Or put in a bigger one - proper truck chassis conversions to fire trucks ALWAYS have a larger radiator. Budget conversions from Pappa Joe's Custom Truck Conversion, Bed Installation, and Bait Emporium sometimes don't get that treatment. Ok now this may or not be gold.... But a clean E28 535i for around 2K is not a bad deal at all. Would it be easy to add the M suspension parts to this? http://desmoines.craigslist.org/cto/2760090997.html

Swapping the e28 M5 suspension might be a pain - they may share common mounts but I can't remember. Probably easier to get some H&Rs+bilsteins or other similar combo. Figure about 1k for that, plus refreshing all the rubber bits. I know it's common to do that even on M5s just to get rid of the SLS. Around here I'd probably have shown up with cash in hand if that is as clean as it looks, but I don't know if cars tend to get rusty in Iowa or not. The M35 itself is known to be bulletproof.

Worth going and taking a look at for that price. If I had $2k laying around I would buy it.

This one's been up for quite awhile. I was really interested in it as a resto for my wife, but she passed on it. I'm too large for it...I bet it could be had for well uder $2K by now. I've talked to the sister of the owner...it's an estate sale...he bought it from a guy in New Mexico to restore, and died suddenly, The body has very little rust and is complete, Motor is all there but isn't set up to run (judging by the loose drive belt). These cars are very cool and extremely rare, especially on the East Coast. Looks like a fairly easy resto. I'm still tempted... http://baltimore.craigslist.org/cto/2692008321.html There's a ton of detailed photos linked to the posting. https://picasaweb.google.com/103366564687605490775/1962CORVAIR (will post image when imgur is back up...it's a 1962 Corvair Lakewood station wagon) (edit) PainterofCrap fucked around with this message at 22:04 on Dec 22, 2011 |

If you're really interested in a Corvair, you should head over to the Corvair Center forums: https://www.corvaircenter.com/phorum. There's some guys with literally well over 5 corvairs just sitting around in working condition. Put up a nice post saying you're new and what you're looking for, and they'll point you in the right direction.

sigtrap posted:Didn't they have linked controls / no rudder pedals? I remember people talking about those when I worked at an airfield. IIRC, it depends on who made it (several manufacturers made Ercoupes over the years) and what particular variant it is. Some Ercoupes have no rudder pedals at all (with the rudders being interlinked to the ailerons), while others do. Also, nosewheel steering can either be interlinked with the control wheel or to the rudder pedals, provided it has nosewheel steering to begin with. I pity those who have interlinked rudders/ailerons and no nosewheel steering - directional control on takeoff or landing with even a slight crosswind can get pretty dicey, I would imagine.

Yes, it was...it was supposed to be one of those transition - planes for that magical time after WWII when we were all supposed to have at least one aircraft in the garage. Before the FAA realized that it's a lot less dangerous to the general public to be a mechanically-disinclined uncoordinated moron in two dimensions than in three.

I uh... what? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-CRX-HF-1989-/280796529302?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item4160c70296#ht_1154wt_1165 9k for a beat to poo poo crx si with rust and a myriad of other problems. quote:The body is Rust free on both quarter panels - The sunroof will open but not close and there is a tiny bit of rust starting to bubble up on it - It will also leak a small amount of water into the hatch if it sits in the rain - The car runs very cold, great in the summer not so good in the winter - In this temperature it will barley get to running temp at idle and once you start driving it sinks under C quick - Thermostat is not broken just needs a different one for the winter - Because of cams and pistons the car does not cold start well in any weather, when you start it you have to rev it up to 2000rpms and hold it for a min or two. Once it gets a little heat the car idles at a steady 1000 rpms and will not die. - Transmission and clutch were on last motor 2nd to 3rd grinds - I got this car back 9 months or so ago after the shop had it forever and due to current driving history it has sat in the garage. I have started it every other week and I let it idle for 30 min and putt around the subdivision for 2 miles then I wrap out 1st and put it away for another week or so. - The car was built by adrenaline motorsports in st. peters, MO and has barley been driven since build that is why I want 9000.00 and not 3000.00. Im over 15,000.00 into it. This isn't a hack job nor was it built by a bunch of drunks in their parents garage. The battery needs to prob be replaced, I have to jump it every time but if you start driving it a lot it should be fine battery was new when I got the car back. Please dont email me saying Im asking too much or the paint on your car is better. That's why this is an auction and I obviously was not concerned about looks when I had a crx built. I had performance in mind and if your that concerned about paint and cd players you should probably be in the market for a suv anyways. I'm also dont care if its a hf or si, the car said hf on the back so thats what I put on the listing. Who cares anyways everything was replaced with bigger and better parts. If you have any question about car feel free to email me or shoot me an offer. I may also consider a trade for an awd manual
